Hi,
first post and use of the software... :)
I have WinXPSP3 running same version of Acronis True Image Home 10 (build 4942) that was used to create my full image of the one and only partition on my Dell Latitude 620. I am trying to restore the full partition from a slow but working XP. The .tib file sits on an external usb hard drive (iomega 3.5 inch 1 tb 7200 rpm).
Here's what I did in sequence:
1- Loaded up the Acronis True Image Home
2- Clicked the recovery item (second item in the main window)
3- Window appears called Restore Data Wizard
4- Clicked Next to the first 'Welcome' page
5- Select the iomega 1tb 7200rpm usb external hd path to the full .tib backup
6- Clicked Next to this Archive Location page
7- Select the Restore disks or partitions options
8- Clicked next to the restoration Type Selection page
9-Checked the 'Disk 1' (only one) checkbox thereby checking both 'SYSTEM(C)' and 'MBR and Track 0' which are underneath.
10- Clicked next to this Partitino or Disk to Restore page
11- Highlight the 'Disk 1' (first option labeled as primary master) the other option is the 'Disk 2' which is the USB drive where the .tib restore file sits.
12- Clicked the Next button to this Restored hard Disk Drive Location page\
13- Select 'Yes, I want to delete al the partitions on the destination hard disk drive before recovering'
14- Clicked Next to this Non Empty Destinatino Hard Disk Drive page
15- Clicked 'No, I do not'
16- Clicked Next to the Next Selection page (only restoring one drive)
17- Clicked 'Use default options'
18- Clicked Next at this Choose restore options page
19- Click Proceed
20- Click reboot button.
The computer then reboots. Its set to boot the HD first then the CD/DVD.
The first time there was no error messages, it just said please wait...
Before the second time with the error message I had setup a backup location (there was none) in the directory wherein sits my .tib file.
So the second time the error message tells me 'Fatal failed to respond (30 seconds)
please help!!!
thanks,
Antoine

Xerox network policies prevented Acronis to work.
Removed the network cable, rebooted, and initiated the restore and now its spinning. real slow, but its working. Case closed.

I have had both failure to load TnD Option and failure 0x40003 to a backup using a HD for source and DVD for a destination. One time the first disc filled and then the write error another time it went about 1/3 the way in and had an error. Roxio software from years back have been able to write backups across discs. This software can not do it? The data is from a single directory and is about 16GB is size.
