Schedule a task to create a full backup on regular basis
I'm disappointed that ATIH 2009 (build 9,709) needs the kludge described at
http://kb.acronis.com/content/1525
to do a regular full backup.
Also I split my backups so I end up with many numbered files, and the batch described above doesn't work.
Is there a simple way to set up a task to make a regular full backup?
Even making 7 tasks to get 7 images is a pain as I don't see a way to copy a task.
I welcome any guidance.

Hello Ray,
Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/ | Acronis True Image]]
Also you can use the Batch file for managing backup sets saved locally available [[http://kb.acronis.com/content/1742| here]].
The batch file provided will allow you to set up a backup retention policy for the backup files saved to a folder on the local drive. If you want to keep full and no incremental or differential backups you can set the amount of backups in each set to 1 so each set only consists of one full backup.
Thank you.

The link goes to page that explains how to setup Acronis to run batch file.
Where can I find the Batch file for managing backup sets saved locally?

Hello Ray,
Thank you for using Acronis Products
You can download batch file from the following link
Use instructions provided in the above mentioned article to create sets of the full backups with Acronis True Image Home 2009.

I cannot believe they REMOVED the ability to set Create new full backup after option to ZERO in the final release of TI2010. The beta allowed it but the release does not. Other then to annoy users why would they do such a thing? It's worked that way for YEARS.
Aside from that and on a different topic .... this is the ABSOLUTE worst FORUM SOFTWARE I have ever used.

- Setup the task for Incremental backups.
- Check the Create new full backup after option and set the number to 0 (zero).
- In the Automatic Consolidation section, check the Number of backups exceeds option and set the number to how many you want. When the number goes over the number you select, the oldest Full is deleted.

I had made one successful image backup of my Vista system. I now cannot make
a full new image backup (2 mo later). I have tried the suggested method below, but
the date I want to make the image (today) shows RED.
What I tried to do is: Since nothing happens when I select Create New Backup Archive,
I selected Once Only, 9PM (shows Dec 12, run when computer is idle.)
selected Incremental, In the Automatic Consolidation section, check the Number of backups
exceeds option and set the number to 5.
But as mentioned above with 1/2 before selected time to start, the date shows RED.
Please, tell me how to make FULL IMAGE BACKUPS PERIODICALLY TO MY MY EXTERNAL
HD WITHOUT DELETING MY PREVIOUS BACKUPS IN CASE ONE OF THESE DO NOT WORK WHEN NEEDED.

Ben DiTosti,
It may help to know what version and build of TI you're using.
Also, if you boot to the TI CD, can you successfully create the backup?

Ben, a solution that really works is Chain2Gen which is item 13A inside my signature link. After reading it, if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask.
An alternate solution with less flexibility is this link

Hello Ed,
I understand the question and will do everything possible from my side to give you a clear explanation.
The latest available build of Acronis True Image Home 2010 (6053) has the check box “a new full backup overwrites the previous one” under Full backup in Backup Method window. If you don’t check the box then you will have multiply full backups, so there is no need to set “create a new full backup after “n” incremental/differentials” as in previous version. In this case in order to set the limit to the number of the full backups you should use consolidation.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thank you.

Cmon Dmitry,
Thats wrong.
TI 2010 Build 6053 does not allow full backups to be consolidated, only diff and incremental.
The only way to set a limit on multiple full backups is to use a batch command or create 5 seperate tasks called Mon, Tue Wed etc, with the backups going to different folders so no chance of overwriting.
