Problem creating backup to NAS drive

Thread needs solution

I just installed TI 2014 on a laptop (running Windows 7 Pro, if that matters) and am trying to create a backup to a NAS drive. Acronis asked me for the drive's credentials. There are none; this storage is freely shared among 2 PCs and 2 laptops on my LAN without need for userid and password. Doc I found only says TI will not ask for credentials if none have been defined, but that seems not to be the case. What do I do now?

The credentials the app is asking for are the credentials of the Windows user account under which ATI is installed. The other credentials referred to in the Doc are defined credentials which can be specified for the backup at the time of creation. This is quite confusing I am aware. Be advised that some users have issue with this same problem and some have not overcome them. If entering your Windows user credentials does not work and you post back please indicate what type of NAS you are using and how attached to your network. Also if your network is setup as a workgroup or homegroup.

Interesting. I tried again and again got a message saying credentials were required, but the message disappeared, and I was able to start creating the back.

Could it be that this time I was running under the id that installed ATI? Maybe I was previously trying to run the backup under another id.

In any case, it seems to be working.

Sure, that could be. Windows authenticates against the current user.
