Use Nonstop backup on a network drive?

Thread needs solution

Hi, I have a question (actually two). My network router has a USB port where I can plug in a hard drive that will then be available to the PCs on the network. Through some magic it even looks like it was plugged in locally. So now I'm thinking (and I haven't bought TI 2011 yet, so I can't check):

1. Can I start Nonstop Backup with a locally plugged in hard disk to do the initial full backup there, and then switch it over to the router and have TI continue the tiny non-stop backups over the network?

2. Can I then use the same hard drive for more than one PC to centrally backup all my PCs there?

Thanks,
Tim

Hello Tim,

Thank you for using Acronis Products

1)      You can use nonstop backup for remotely attached hard drive as storage place. You will have to schedule another task as path and letter to the drive will be changed.

2)      You can use one hard drive to backup multiply computers, the images will not be overwritten.

Hi,
I am trying to do exactly what is mentioned here: Using nonstop backup to a network drive (NAS in local Gigabit LAN). I have no problem doing the traditional backup to the NAS but in no way nonstop backup can be used because the NAS isn't shown as backup place.
More confusing is a contrary answer in http://forum.acronis.com/forum/4219 where Alexander tells it is NOT possible to use nonstop backup on networked drives.
Of course backup storage should be usable for any kind of backup and I am really disappointed about not being able to use nonstop backup (my main reason to upgrade to TI 2010 :-(...).

Regards
Peter

Nonstop backup to a NAS was the reason I upgraded - having had terrible problems with the previous version. I don't understand the fix that Dmitry offered, can that be explained more fully please because I am not offered any network drives as a target.

There seem to be a lot of complaints in the forums about NSB speed problems, will Acronis be releasing an upgrade that fixes NSB in the near future?

Thanks.
