latest build missing universal restore

Thread needs solution

Have true image pro since January, downloaded latest build today and installed to make bootable usb for backup and restore.

Built to usb flash successfully as expected, but when using to restore existing disk backup, Universal restore check box option no longer available.

Has this been removed as a feature?

Download the separate UR ISO from your account.

Thanks Thomas. I downloaded and booted to it, but cannot see how to build another usb image.

Am I remembering correctly that the previous build of true image 2014 included UR with the 'create bootable media' option?

Just to close this out for anyone else... in fact Acronis has significantly altered the way in which Universal Restore works within build revisions of True Image 2014 Premium. This is troublesome because if you purchased 2014, as nice as giving a free upgrade sounds, you probably were looking for the same single functionality I was that they have now seen fit to eliminate mid-version. (at least the three other guys I know that use Acronis agree with me)

It appears they intend for this change to be permanent. In addition, in my most recent application, the method and tools given failed where the Acronis 2010 version and original 2014 build succeeded. What a shame, because it seems at least that Acronis has done significant damage to fix something that wasn't broken.

It is my understanding that with build 6688 of 2014 Prem, the ability to apply universal Restore to an image as it is being restored, from within the USB bootable Media, has been replaced by what amounts to a two step process.

Step 1) do restore of a backed up image using the usb bootable media
Step 2) reboot machine with Universal Restore and ATTEMPT to apply generic drivers.

I say ATTEMPT because three tries for me using this significantly longer process failed.

Fortunately, I was able to dig up a 2010 True Image version bootable media and it worked flawlessly. (i.e. I chose the image, checked the 'Use Universal Restore' check box thingy, and...magic)

My advice, don't upgrade.

Hopefully it was just an oversight and future versions of Acronis will bring back the good old days.
