Looking for a program that will make settings and documents move from XP tp Win7 64-bit

Thread needs solution

I know acronis was used when i moved my Windows 7 System Files to my IBM SSD Disk. My household all uses XP with the exemption of me. It one thing reloading my PC but I need a sure fire option to move wifes data. I remember when I upgraded her PC, I had to go and buy XP to make her happy.

If it's just user data files (e.g. photos, Word docs, music, etc.) then that's fairly simple. If you want to transfer all kinds of Windows settings and application settings, then you'd need specialized software. I've not used such tools, but there are some (LapLink, etc.) and Windows has its own transfer tool, at the moment I forget what it's called.

tutle,
Thanks for the reply you nailed the two things I should have noted. Copying picture, document are no problem. Where it get's a little crazy is where MS office and Outllok seems to be the worse about storing files outside the .pst file ex contacts. As you probably know about every application has contact with the internet whether you like it or not.

The Windows transfer agent is called Easy Transfer. Do a search, have a read and see if it will fill your needs.
