External Drive connected via USB 3 port Tib images Failing on timeout

Thread needs solution

Hello Acronis Forum community,

I am a relatively new customer of ATI 2014. I have this desk PC rebuilt and I have an external drive connected via a USB 3 port

I had a number of false starts trying to do Full image Tib BUT every one Failed with Time outs!

Once I swapped over to a USB 2 port, viola No problem

Can a rep or other knowledgeable forum reader set my curiosity straight

Would of thought USB 3 be supported ...

Don't connect via a hub, a port in a monitor, a USB extension cord, etc. Connect the external drive directly to a USB port on the rear of the computer case.

Thanks tuttle, getting back to check, been a while. Have just been check on Acronis marketing web page, this

PATA (IDE), SATA, SCSI, SAS, IEEE1394, (Firewire), USB1.1/2.0/3.0 drives, seems to indicate support, but mine certainly was failing.

It works for just copying, from the PC to an external drive connection!

It is a strange one, I note from doing a search on topic usb3 that there are some issues out there

Once I use a 2.0 port I am fine

I am running ATI 2014 standard On a Win 7 Home P x64, 18Gb RAM build, so my specs I would think should be adequate enough

This could be a power configuration issue. You might try this:

1. Goto control panel/system and security / power options

2. Change power setting.

3. Change advanced power settings

4. Scroll down to USB settings and disable the USB selective suspend setting.
