Backup up System Files - newb

Thread needs solution

Hello all,

In order to get a FULL backup that I can recover from a hard drive crash, do I have to do an offline image capture with the boot cd? Or can I just run the backup from within Windows?

I'm looking at purchasing the Advanced Server SBS Edition and am having a hard time trying to nail down an answer to one question. I've watched the Youtube tutorials, I've searched the forums (which came up with too many unrelated items) and I searched (ok, skimmed) the documentation.

Thanks for your patience,
EP

The Home version can backup from within Windows, but many users prefer doing so from the boot CD to make sure nothing would interfere with the process. Maybe the same applies to the Server version.

Hello Eddie and DwnNDrty!

Thank you for opening the thread and for your comments.

I would like to assure you that you can definitely create the backup of live, running machine - we designed the product for that, which is more, you can set a schedule for the backups to run, so that you could apply it once and forget about it (see chapter 5 in the User's Guide). It is absolutely safe and you won't face any issues with it.

Anyway I would suggest you to test the solution first, you can find the demo version of the software here. And should you need any assistance or have further questions, do not hesitate to leave a comment here or contact us directly - we will be glad to help!

Thank you!
