Image Restore: 3TB Drive Not Detected as a Target Disk.
*I am not cloning. I am restoring an image backup*
I am working on a Windows XP SP3 Pro and am trying to restore an image backup created by Acronis True Image Home 2013 to a 3TB drive from inside Windows. The 3TB drive is not detecting as a target drive during the restore process.
-I understand that XP only support MBR which has a 2.2TB limitation and the remainder of the drive will have to be extended with the virtual disk driver.
-I understand that it is not ideal to boot from a large capacity drive with XP. However, it has worked in the past I want to get it running again.
-The drive detects in Disk Management as 2048GB NTFS Healthy Primary Partition K:
-When I attempted the restore from the Boot CD the 3TB drive was grayed out. I moved the 3TB drive to a different SATA port and booted to the CD and now the drive shows as "Unsupported". Add New Disk also sees the drive as "Unsupported". The drive is Basic (not dynamic) I know this because I diskparted the drive.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I partitioned the drive into two 1TB partitions. This allowed the software to detect the drive as a target. I was then able to select one of the partitions as destination. However, I get the BSOD when I boot the OS. Also, the drive was changed back into one 2048GB partition after the restore.
