Acronis True Image Home 2009 hangs when target drive is fromated with Compress option

When trying to do a full backup up to a drive which has been formated using the compress option, back freezes near the end of the 1st operation. Backup will never complete and windows XP eventually hangs.
I have always liked Acronis backup software but now it seems useless. I don't want to upgrade since I am tired of the yearly 'for cost' upgrades.

This issue affects your product and a lot of others. I have no idea if True Image Home 2010 fixes this issue or not (it isn't listed in the below article, but the article is also a year old).

  1. Could you please provide us with the exact sequence of actions that lead to the problem you report, so that we can reproduce it?
  2. - Download AcronisInfo
    - Run the downloaded file.

    The gathered information will be put in AcronisInfo.zip in the same folder, where the AcronisInfo was saved.

    This information will allow us to take a closer look at the Acronis product state and logs.

  3. The full error message (preferably a screenshot of the error)
