Thanks for your reply Colin
However I have already checked that the RPC Server service is on and automatic.
Have also tried using Try and Decide with Firewall, Defender and anti-virus off.
Does the Try and Decide work for anyone using Windows 7 Home?

I now have try and decide working, except for save to my external usb.
My progress screen is working, including the shut down on completion.
I found two things that probably caused the failures.
1. I examined the acronis true image exe file and noted that it was running in XP compatability mode.
Changed it for Windows 7, after running the file again, it reverted to XP compatability.
Turned of Windows experience setting, changed back to windows 7 compatabilty, it remained with windows 7.
2. Probably more important I found (don't know why) that the folder containing the scheduler was set to read only. Corrected this and now most problems are cleared.
When setting up Try and Decide When I name my External USB drive as the save location I get Erro code “0x00970021.
However Try and Decide works when I name an internal dry as the save drive.
Hope this helps, and hope someone can help me with the error code “0x00970021

I still have the same problem, with ATI 2010 and windows 7 home.I checked the trueimage.exe file and it appeared to be normal.Couldn't find that folder you mentioned.

In a 64bit W7 system the files is here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Acronis\Schedule2
In a 32 bit system it'll be in: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\Schedule2

Yeah, checked that too, but it seemed normal. Can you suggest any other solution, bodgy ? Thanks.
P/s: except the problem with try and decide, looks like one click backup is too not working, when i click the button, nothing happens.

Hello all,
Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.
Let me assist you with the issue.
bodgy, thanks for your help, but your solution is not fully correct in this case. Indeed, most probably the issue was caused by Acronis Scheduler, however there's another way to fix the issue:
- Make sure that Acronis Scheduler2 Service is Started and the Startup type is set to Automatic:
- Click Start -> Run and type in services.msc;
- In the Services window locate Acronis Scheduler2 Service;
- Right-click on the service and select Properties in the pop-up menu;
- In the invoked window set the Startup type to Automatic. Click OK;
- Right-click on the service again and select Start in the pop-up menu.
- If this does not help, please download Acronis Scheduler, which is a special utility to update the scheduler service, extract it and run install.bat. The utility will automatically update the service.
Please let me know if you need any further assistance.
Thank you.

I have the same problem and found that chancing the "Acronic Nonstop backup service" to automatic startup fixed it. So please note that both services must be set to automatic start

Same error for me. RP Server stopped with Try and decide on a 64 bit win 7 machine. I tried all of the suggestions and nothing worked. One person suggested unistalling and reinstalling. That worked. This 2010 program looks scary, with all of the bad reviews on Amazon. The image backup with Windows 7 Professional is fine. AAMOF, it appears that Acronis can see the images. I only wanted the try and decide feature. So, anyway, it is working now. For those with this error, try unistalling and reinstalling.
