Acronis Backup 11.5 (32308): Change the licence key (not product licence) for a single Agent
Hello,
For administrative purposes, I need to switch the licence key associated with a machine with an agent installed to another one, with no downtime. So basically I need to switch the current licence xxxx to yyyy.
Listing the machines in the All machines with agent window gives me the possibility to "Change licence" but there's no way to give him the correct licence, it only imports a new licence key to the server.
Must I revoke a licence and then assign a new one or is there a simpler way to do that?

Thanks for the reply but I don't think it's possible to do it this way. The "change licence" option simply lists the available "types" of licences, ex. Advanced Workstation + Deduplication but it does not permit you to specify a different licence key for the machine with Acronis agent installed.
Please note I'm not using the licence twice, I have a number of them available to be assigned.
Please assist.

Remove all (but one) free license keys from License Server and revoke and remove the one that assigned to this agent, then on the 'change license' it will have to pick the only remaining one. Then add keys back.

I have not tried this yet if the key is already in the license server (you can remove it as Fedor said above) but when you try to 'change license' you can try to use the "Add license...' button to basically import the required 'key' for that particular agent...
Hope it works out for you.

@Datastor, thanks for the tip, but unfortunately it does not work out that way (even if I would find it logical and useful).
Importing a licence key from that dialog simply adds the key to the licence repository, but it does not substitute the key for the PC in question.
Can somebody confirm this?

Apparently the only possible way to change a licence key associated to a single client is to revoke it and than assign manually that specific key.
Can you tell me what consequences this action has:
1. does the client get unregistered from the console?
2. what happens to the scheduled jobs for that client?
3. any other I missed?
Thanks

@ Fedor
I was just re-reading your post: so if I understood correctly there is no way to assign a specific licence key to a specific client machine?
Can you confirm that please?

At least I don't know a straightforward way to achieve this.
And for your previous post - revoking /adding licenses won't deregister the agent from the Management Server and won't revoke its plans. If some plan starts when there is no license assigned it may fail, of course.
