Non-stop backup questions

Thread needs solution

Hi,
I am currently using TrueImage Home 2010 for my important documents backups. I have one HDD for my Windows Seven system and program files, and another HDD for my personal files.

I would like to buy an extra HDD for my System backups. I am tempted to use the "non-stop backup" functionality of TrueImage 2010.

Has annyone used it before? Is it suitable/reliable for System backups ? Can one recover an entire disk or an entire operating system with it? How much disk space does ot require?

Thanks for your help!

I have True Image Home 2010 build 6053 installed on my new Windows 7 64-bit PC. I've used True Image on multiple PCs since v9. By not creating a Secure Zone, never activating Recovery Manager or Try&Decide, and only making full backup images, I never experienced any significant problems with previous versions.

TIH 2010, however, is as buggy as an ant farm. My major complaint is that whenever I attempt a restoration using the Nonstop Backup, I get this error message: "Failed to process pair script: 3F775F64-7C3C-4BA4-AF21-777ECB33B3BD."

I only paid to upgrade to TIH 2010 because Acronis stated TIH 2009 wasn't compatible with Windows 7. Now, I see Acronis has released build 9809 which is supposed to make TIH 2009 Windows 7 compatible. I'm livid at paying for an unnecessary upgrade which is the worst version of True Image I've ever used. Nonstop Backup would be a great feature if it worked; but it doesn't for me and (according to posts on this forum) many other TIH 2010 users.

Thank you Karen for your answer, but my question is not whether TIH 2010 is a good product or not!

I wanted to have a bit more information as regards the "non-stop backup" function of TrueImage Home. In other words:

Is it suitable/reliable for System backups ? Can one recover an entire disk or an entire operating system with it? How much disk space does it require?

Thanks for you help!

Quentin, you wanted to know whether TIH 2010's Nonstop Backup feature is "suitable/reliable for System backups." I explained I get an error message when I attempt a restoration using Nonstop Backup. This certainly doesn't make it reliable to me. This forum contains plenty of posts from other TIH 2010 users who also reported various types of problems with Nonstop Backup. The only way you'll know whether it works on your PC is for you to try it.

As for how much disk space it requires, that will obviously depend on the size of the partitions you want backed up.

IMHO, using Nonstop Backup is for those who like living on the "bleeding edge".

Quentin, you would be better served if you use something else for your personal file backups. True Image's strength lies in doing whole disc backups. There are simpler, safer ways to backup data files, like Karen's Replicator and Microsoft's SyncToy.

True Image is extremely picky when it comes to proper functioning hardware. Something that Windows will happily ignore, will make True Image falter.
