How do you restore from one external hard drive to another
I have True Image 11 home. I did a backup on an external hard drive. I had a computer crash and had to rebuild. The computer has been rebuilt and running. I'm looking for some old files that were backed up on an EHD (1) as tib files. I have a lot of other files on EHD 1, but I only want to restore the tib files to a second EHD. How do I do this. I have tried several times and I have not done it correctly.
I want to restore tib files from EHD 1 to EHD 2.
Do I need to do a copy first that do a restore on EHD2
PLease help

I get really annoyed at computer products that don't live up to their claims or don't offer any appropriate support.
I've just used Acronis True Image to back up the hard disks of both my desktop and my laptop. That was fine! If disaster strikes, how do I restore the hard drives of my computers. Can someone direct me to an easy-to-read explanation?

You make the bootable True Image Rescue CD, boot with it and choose to Restore the Backup you made. In fact you should do this now to make sure that when you boot the CD that you are able to select the Backup Image.
For more features of True Image, read the Sticky at the top by GroverH.

I just tried (and failed) to restore an image from a .tib file to a new hard drive. Instead of extracting all the files from the tib file it simply copied the tib file to the new drive.
How do I restore an image, with extracted files?

What version and build of True Image? You have to make the Rescue CD, boot with it and use the Recover feature.

Let me add some more info. I'm using True Image Home 2009 and booting from the bootable CD (which I purchased, not burned). I have an external USB drive with a .tib image. I have a new hard drive in the PC. I try to restore choosing the .tib file and setting the new hard drive as the target. It spends 15 minutes "restoring" but when complete the new drive has only one file, the .tib file.
How do I force it to extract all the files inside the .tib archive ?

Looks like you were typing the same time as I was, LOL. Well it looks like you did the right thing, in which case I have not read of that happening to anyone else.
The Recovery feature on the bootable Rescue CD should extract all the files on to the target drive.
Do you see both progress bars during the Recovery process?
