outlook 2003 restore

Thread needs solution

I had to install a new HD in my Dell 3100. Using Wxp Pro. I had previously backed up my outlook folders with Acronis True Image 10. When I try to restore my outlook files I get "The path specified for C:\docs and settings\john\local settings\application data\microsoft\outlook\outlook\outlook.pst is not valid. I've manually created the pst files thru CONTROL PANEL\MAIL\ADD DATA FILES, the pst files had even been present in the past attempts, but I still get this message. I couldn't even open Oulook, I'd get the ugly windows window that says Oulook could not be opened...........it must now close.
I even went as far as re-re-formating my HD, thinking Win was corrept, I was then able to at least open Oulook create a user profile, THEN, when I went to restore my files using ACRONIS, I got the above issues again.
IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY BACKUP FILES THAT IS CAUSING THIS.
I'M VERY FRUSTRATING WITH ACRONIS RIGHT NOW. I HAVE OTHER ISSUES WITH ACRONIS THAT I WON'T GET INTO ON THIS POST.
Thanks for ANY help,
Phil

Hello Phil,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help. Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.
First of all, please make sure that you are using the latest build of Acronis True Image 10.0 Home #4942. if the build number differs from the latest one, please download and install the latest build.  You can find out the build number by selecting "Help" option, "About". You can learn more on how to download the latest build here.
See if the issue remains. If the issue still persists, the only way to recover the e-mails is to recover the .pst file directly from the backup of the entire partition. You should choose the image of the partition and select Data type of restoration. Restore the .pst file and place it to C:\documant and settings\john\local settings\application data\microsoft\outlook\.

Actually, the e-mail backup has been improved greatly in Acronis True Image Home 2010, this option works better in this version. I may recommend you to install a trial version of Acronis True Image Home 2010 available here in order to make sure that the program runs flawless for you.

If you would like to purchase the upgrade to Acronis True Image Home 2010, please visit the Acronis online store.
