Acronis True Image WD Edition bootable media / rescue CD/DVD linux virtual terminal

Thread solved

Hello. I recently cloned an internal laptop hard drive that was failing using the Acronis True Image WD Edition bootable / rescue CD/DVD. While I was in the "live CD/DVD" environment, since it's a Linux system, I pressed CTRL-ALT-F2 to get to a virtual terminal so that I could run some diagnostic commands on the source disk ( eg. hdparm etc. ).

Unfortunately, once I was in the virtual terminal, I could not get back to the GUI. Usually this is done by pressing ALT-F7 or ALT-F8. In fact, I tried all the function keys and none returned me to the GUI.

As Acronis phone support is non-existant, I'm posting this here. Does anyone know how to get back to the GUI once you're in a virtual terminal? The only way I know of finding a definitive answer on this is to get the source code for the bootable media ( which Acronis is legally obligated to provide under the GPL and other opensource licenses, unless they want to get sued ).

Does anyone have an answer?

Thanks and regards,

Jonathan

It was staring me in the face all along. When in the BusyBox virtual terminal, after it's created, there's text at the top of the screen that reads :

Hint: Press ALT+F1 to return to GUI

Pressing ALT+F1 did indeed return me to the GUI. :)
