Slow backups
Hello,
I use a trial version.
--------------------------
Windows 7 32-bit SP1 - 4 Go RAM - Intel Core i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20GHz
I make my backups on a external device: SAMSUNG HD502HI USB Device 500 Go
-------------------------------
I find that backups are slow.
An example:
A backup of my personal files (Word, Excel, photographs) = 44 Go lasted about 40 minutes.
I find it very long.
What can I do to decrease the time for backups?

Well, here we go! I've used Acronis home 2010 on upgrading each year - now on Home 2015. My backup image has decreased from 60-70 min from 2010 thru 2015. Now exactly the same image backup with 2015, backup time has jumped to 3.5 hours. I run Win 7 with no hardware changes (except memory upgrade in 2011. I backup to external harddrive using the same eSata connection. I have had about 150 gig to backup and image file is routinely about 120 gig. Any ideas! Right now I feel there is so many changes for 2015 version that supposed to increase utility have sacrificed something that has reduced basic functionality based on my current backup too much to have justified upgrade to Home 2015. Unless this is fixed, I will uninstall 2015 and drop back to 2015 and probably not upgrade again.

What version were you on prior to trying the trial version? What kind of slowdown did you experience?

You can change the operation priority to high to speed up the backup. When creating the backup click on Options, then the Advanced tab, and scroll all the way down to Performance.

Hello,
"Don't connect via a hub, a port in a monitor, a USB extension cord, etc. Connect the external drive directly to a USB port on the rear of the computer case."
I have a direct connexion

I use the backup of Windows 7 before trying Acronis True Image 2015.

Yes I know but with this solution, the PC is slower. Your idea not a solution for me.

Well, changing priority to high seems like a good plan. I thought I had done it long ago. To be sure, I checked all the options anyway. Everything was as I had it prior to switching to 2016 version INCLUDING priority. It was, in fact, still set at high priority. I followed this by doing another image backup and the time dropped to about 45 min. which was faster than my usual 60 with 2014. Will it continue at below 60 or was this a fluke lite the 210 min on my last try with v 2015?? I don't know what happed to checking the log which, in addition listing error, gives you a precise time for backup. If that capability is still available I ain't found it yet (no surprise!)
It seems that the thread listing comments about the "upgrade" to 2015 are pretty negative. I may downgrade back to 2014 and ask for a refund.
