Software Required?

Thread needs solution

I just purchased On-Line backup and changed from the idrive service. I guess I didn't realize my Acronis Backup would n't work. I have Acronis True Image Home 10.0. Does this mean in addition to signing up for On-Line that I must also upgrade my software? How do I do backups on the 4 other computers if I only have one license for the True Image? Sorry but i don't think this was clear enough in the materials on On-Line. Carbonite and iDrive supply their own client software.

Unfortunately you might have missed the bullet point under Integrated for the ultimate in data protection. It does say

Acronis True Image Home 2010 and Acronis Online Backup are integrated under a common user interface. .

But I agree, it should be more prominent, perhaps at the top of the page, saying something like True Image 2010 users

As far as your licence question is concerned, only Acronis can give you a definitive answer, but I'd think if you were to purchase the upgrade version of Acronis Backup and Security which includes 3 licences covering 2010, the AV and firewall and of course has the OLB interface, you would be operational.

However Acronis haven't quite clarified what happens when your AV subscription runs out as far as the TI side of things are concerned. There was a post by a user (I think) that Acronis Chat had said it was just the A/V component that would cease to function and TI would still be usable (and legal to use), but in a recent Acronis post they seemed to say that the whole package would need repurchasing on an annual basis.

If that turns out to be the case, then obviously you'd be better off buying 4 * 2010.

This is a PS. I could be wrong in what I stated above. There was a beta test at the beginning of this year, whereby you could access your OLB from within your Acronis account. If you have activated the OLB account, I think a link becomes available that allows you to download an OLB utility
