How to stop a backup started in error

Thread needs solution

Hi
Help will be much appreciated - thank you.

I believe that the scheduler started a backup - that I wished to stop.
When I opened Acronis - it showed that a particular set was currently backing up.

I tried to stop it by right clicking the Acronis icon in the system tray, and clicking 'Stop'
This did not work.

I then tried to cancel it by also right clicking the Icon and selecting cancel.
This also did not work.

I then tried to find the appropriate section in the User Guide - Could not find anything.

Eventually I just hard shut down the computer, rebooted, opened Acronis and fixed the offending backup.

My question is:
Surely there is an easier way to do this ?
as it seems to be something that could occur quite often.
Thank you.

Cancelling and or stopping a task once it has started can take a very long time, and as you ahve found doesn't always work.

It has been suggested to Acronis in the past that there should be the option to pause a task once started, though there would be integrity of the image problems.

Stopping the service might work, but it might actually lock the service to prevent this one running.

Hi Colin

Thanks very much for your reply.
It is good to know about this- so thanks for the explanation.
