Need ATI 2010 Event Log Persistence

Thread needs solution

Alexander,

Could you please tell me how to option 2010 Build 5,055 so that the application maintains the formatted Event Log entries and the calendar indictors indefinitely? Currently only about 4-5 days of events and calendar "green/red" indicators are maintained by the application. Older log entries fall off after 4-5 days.

Please do not refer me to the unformatted log file as that is too much hassle to open and attempt to read. I need to option the application such that it presents all log file entries for an indefinite number of days in the past.

Spacibo,
Bruce

Hello Bruce,

No worries, I will help you with this situation.

As far as I understand, your logs in the main page of the product (when we can see succeeded\failed tasks marked as green and red) disappear after 5 days or stops marking as failed or completed successfully, is that correct?

If yes, it appears to be the scheduler malfunction. Please do the following to resolve the issue:

1. Download Acronis Scheduler, which is a special utility to update the scheduler service ;
2. Extract the downloaded file and run install.bat. The utility will automatically update the service;
3. Reboot the machine;
4. Recreate the scheduled tasks and check whether the issue persists

If it does, please let us investigate situation and do the following:

Could you please make screenshot of the main product window and calendar?

If you are not familiar with making screen shots, please read the below step-by-step instructions.

- Get to the window which you want to make a screen shot of;
- Hit the (Alt+)PrintScreen button on your keyboard;
- Run Paint usually available in Start\Programs\Accessories or another graphics application;
- Choose Paste command in Edit menu;
- Save the result picture in JPEG format being preferable.

Also, please collect the following information:

- Download the file;
- Run the downloaded file
- Send us the files created.
The gathered information will be put in adv_report.zip in the same folder, where the AcronisInfo was saved.
Running AcronisInfo may take up to 5 minutes.

Then submit a request for technical support. Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the issue appears and the link to this thread. Then provide me with the case number you receive from our system, so I can pick it up and speed up the process. We will do our best to investigate the problem and provide you with a solution.

Additionally to this, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.

Best regards,

Alexander,

Running the install.bat from the download linked to above did not fix the problem.

Are you certain that you linked me to the correct version of the Scheduler files, above? Following the link, the downloaded Scheduler files have a create date of Spring, 2008, which preceeds ATI Home 2010. Also, the versions of schedule2.exe and schedhlp.exe located in the following folder of my Win7 x64 system: c:\program files (x86)\common\acronis\schedule2 have a create date of 9/12/2009 after having run the install.bat from the download as you instructed.

So, it appears that the files from the download may not have installed and that in any case they are older files.

Update: Ok; the installed schedul2.exe (after update) was vers. 1.0.0.259. However, the download version is 1.0.0.262 (even though the create date is Spring 2008). So, it appears that the install.bat did not install the new schedul2.exe. So, I stopped the scheduler service manually, copied the 1.0.0.262 version to the common files\acronis\schedul2 directory, and then restarted the scheduler service. I will now monitor for a few days to see if the log data persists for longer than 4 or 5 days. Please note also that the scheduled tasks were never deleted as you suggested that they would be. So I will test using the old scheduled tasks. Is that ok?

Also, FYI, your support person Ankur Chandel said the following on 12/10/2009:

"Hello Bruce,

Thank you for your response.

Bruce , the Event and Log entries gets delted every 5 days , as this is the functionality of the software and the code is designed in this way , However as a workaround I would recommend that you should save the Entries on a Wordpad or Word file."

Thank you Alexander; I will advise of progress.

Hello Bruce,

Sorry for the delayed response.

The main purpose of scheduler is to restart all responsible services and remove tasks from scheduler list, so it's not important if you installing an old version over the newest one.

Is that ok?

Yes, that's ok, surely you have already performed that since the request time. Could you please provide me with the current state of the issue? If you feel that this thread is not handled in a timely fashion, please feel free to PM me, I will help you.

Best regards,
