How can I turn scheduler completely and permanently OFF?

Thread needs solution

I just discovered that Acronis has WRECKED archival backups that I had (state of my file collection at various points in time) made manually, because apparently there is a default weekly backup schedule that Acronis uses.

I can't figure out how to turn that default schedule permanently and completely OFF. Can you help? Also, is there a way to disable the scheduler service (I see from Process Explorer that it takes CPU cycles)?

Is there a batch way to set scheduling off for each backups that I already have, or do I need to do each one individually?

I suggest that "unscheduled" be the out-of-the-box default for the program.

Yes, it was always off until 2014. It is supposed to be modified again in next update so it will be off by default.

For each task, you will need to turn off manually as per the above links.

New backups can be added to any of the tasks vis the "backup now" option of via desktop shortcuts.

There is no clean and easy way to completely disable the scheduler.
Just make sure any new task you c reate, if you don't want it scheduled, change the option to "do not schedule."

Where is this "shut-off" option in v2015?

(I have tried Operations>Edit Settings> Options>Do Not Schedule and then clicking on OK. The next time I open the Backup, it is changed back to "Daily." I have even gone to the next page -- "Backup Scheme" -- and clicked on the "Save" button but still no joy.)

There is no permanent shutoff switch in either 2014 or 2015 versions but the user does have controls to save each task as "non-scheduled."

If you want the task to be non-scheduled, you have to save each task using the "do not schedule" option.
It is also possible to edit a scheduled task and change it to non-scheduled, but it is much better to save the task as "non-scheduled" during the origna creation.

Upon completion of the task creation, DO NOT click on the Save/"Backup Now" option. Instead, click on the adjacent arrow and choose the "Backup later" option.

Unfortunately, (for reasons to complicated to go into here) I need to edit existing tasks so they discontinue "scheduled" backups. Was there something in these eleven links that lead me through that?

To change an existing 2015 task from scheduled to non-scheduled via the edit option.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. From main Backups window, select/click the scheduled task needing changing to non-scheulded.

2. Click OPERATIONS BUTTON in lower left corner.

3. Click EDIT settings option.

4. Click OPTIONS button lower left.

5. Click the "DO NOT SCHEDULE" OPTION.

6. Click ADVANCED SETTING GEAR WHEEL.
...........Scroll down the listing just to determine whether any of the advanced settings needs changing.
...........Many prefer that the bottom most "if missed" option be unchecked.

7. To save the "do not schedule' changes, click the OK button (lower right).

8. To save the task changes, click the SAVE button (lower right).

===================================================
If you followed the preceding edit instructions above, the selected task has been changed from "scheduled" to a "non-scheduled" task
and need to be run manually in order for backups to occur.

HOWEVER, due to a bug in 2015, the change to "non-scheduled" will not appear on the screen.
The display screen will still show the task as "scheduled even though it is actually now a "non-scheduled" task.

To get the display screen to show the task as its correct "non-scheduled" status,
a system reboot is needed.
