I am having the same issue, except on Vista Ultimate 64bit. Same 6053 build, same error message.
Everything works fine until I actually run the backup job. Then the computer goes into a near locked state, then blue screens and reboots many minutes later (20 or so, inferred from log).
This issue also appears to be occurring to a number of Win7 users, so it isn't that unique. See tickets 8406 and 8442.
If I boot the same version from the Recovery CD, it works fine.

Greg,
Is your system a Dell as well?
Greg and LStephen,
It might be worth knowing if you both have similar chipsets and video cards/drivers.
I should add, I recall with Acronis Privacy Suite and TI 2009 (I think) having some blue screen problems that resolved themselves once I had updated my nVidia video driver

My system is home-built, based on an Abit IP35 motherboard (Intel P35/ICH9R chipset), E6550 processor, and ATI Radeon X1550 video card. The system has been rock solid for 18+ months. And this is the first blue screen event in that time.

After further trolling the forums, I've found the solution to my problem. The fix is detailed in KB6529. It involves installing an updated driver that fixes a problem with the shadow copy service.
The fix can be found here:

There are a slew of forum posts (8804, 8406, 8442, 7183, etc.) that also detail this issue. Basically, anyone running an Intel Matrix Raid ICH based raid array will probably see this issue. (I have 3 drives in a raid 5 array on an ICH9R chipset.)
Most people just complain of 'freezing'. I guess most people don't have the patience to wait for the computer to actually blue screen.
I have now run 3 backups without a glitch.
