2015 MAC - PC - BOOTCAMP

Thread needs solution

Hi

i think the most important questions for all bootcamp users are :

and that's also my questions :

1. if I install Acronis 2015 under MacOS can I backup MacOS and Bootcamp ?
1.1 in case I have to recover MacOS + Bootcamp ( SSD crash ) can I restore it quick by using USB Stick.

2. if I install Acronis 2015 under Windows7 ( bootcamp ) Acronis will backup Windows7 and MacOS ?
2.1 in case I have to recover MacOS + Bootcamp ( SSD crash ) can I restore it quick by using USB Stick.

That the most important questions

I had have seen that it looks like Mac Version an questions to functionality are not so much in high priority ! But I hope anyone will answer my/our questions !

Its god dam horrible to reinstall Windows7 on Bootcamp and it takes a lot of time ! also if you has to reset up MacOS ! especially if you use the MacBook Retina 1TB ( if you know the trick its easy but most users face always big problems )

I have 4 Mac`s and all run with Windows7 and the I had have 3 SSD crashes in past and it always takes days to re-setup Windows7!

Plz. let me and others know Acronis 2015 are now with the new Version 2015 are able to solve this problem.

If yes I would by it now directly !!!!!

I tried it today with one of my MacBooks :

1. yes this work !
1.1 no this doesn't work !
MEANS : senseless ! Bootstick will not recover MacOS and Touchpad out of work.

2. yes this work !
2.1. yes this work !
MEANS : it will work for me and a lot of others !
if you work 99% with Windows on Bootcamp no chance for continuously backup of Bootcamp.
But manual Backup work - always if you want to backup Mac+Bootcamp - with option to recover FULL with Boot-Stick you have to go to MacOS and run Full-Backup.

Info
If you want to recover first you have to partioning the SSD/HDD into one for MacOS and one for your Bootcamp ( exFat ) after you has done this ... recovery can be run and work fine !

additional information to 2 and 2.1.

I test it on a second MacBook !
At this Bootcamp Norton Antivirus are running !
This created some problems during backup with Arconis under MacOS !!!

Some Norton Files are write protected ... especially at some Temp. Folders and Acronis abort always during the backup process !
( I found the infos about at Acronis report )

so I start Windows and clean Windows with CC and TuneUp.
after the cleaning was done ... I restart under MacOS Acronis backup again and it works fine !

more information's :

If you try to recover Bootcamp from an Mac to an other Mac it will work! After you recovered Windows7, Win7 will start up and install the needed drivers for the alternative MAC ! BUT MacOS will not start up anymore means booting to MacOS are no more possible !!!! -> Windows7 will startup fine !

Now if you want or need MacOS you have no other Option as : FULL new installation of MacOS !
Why !? also your original Backup from this machine will not recover your Mac ! I don't know why !??
( all in all you would need MacOS for future backups , its not possible to backup your Mac with Acronis Bootstick - only recovery option you have )

Maybe if you delete all partitions and try to recover with the original backup it will work !
I Don't know it will work, but I will try it today !

ALL in ALL
I can say Acronis dosent work well like it it work with normal PC !
Maybe Acronis should be free for Mac and they should take money for it, first if its out of alpha-release -status ! ;)
For me the Mac-Version look like a to early given Bata-Version for money !

At my next tests I will focused to backup and recover single MacBooks 1:1 !
If this work fine also this "alpha-version" of Acronis work for now fine for me !

OK

Transferring Bootcamp from one Mac to another Mac ! WORK !
it`s not so easy but it work fine !

What I tested : Transfer a ready config. Bootcamp 1:1 from one Mac to an other Mac !
Example : I use 3 MacBook -> Retina 15 / MacbookPro 17 / MacAir 11

my Problem in past :
sometimes I take the 15, 17 or 11 Mac with me, depend on travel and workload. But always I face the problem that a lot of data's etc. are not up-to-date on each Mac ! also Cloud are not an Option ! if you try to use an Cloud on travel with bad Wifi etc. .... short : not possible !

Now with Acronis for Mac its "easy" to copy Bootcamp 1:1 from on to the other Macs !!!
Also to Backup Bootcamp 1:1 for example you give the Mac with SSD Problems to Apple so you easy can recover your Bootcamp.

Workaround for Bootcamp 1:1 from one MacBook to an other or an brand new MacBook ( example use an 11Air and buy a new 15MacBook Retina )

1. do from both MacBooks a Full Backup with Acronis !!! ( from BOTH ! )
2. Build one USB Bootstick with Acronis
3. start the MacBook you want to update with your favorite Bootcamp installation
4. Check all Partitions are big enough !
5. Format all Partitions on your target MacBook. ( do not delete the partitions or you have to partitioning the SSD/HDD again )
6. Recover to the Bootcamp -partition ONLY your favorite Bootcamp ! Don't recover also the MacOS !!!
7. if this are done. Load the ORIGNIAL Backup from the MacBook you current work on !
8. Recover only MacOS to the Macintosh HD ! Do not recover Bootcamp !
9. Reboot : use ALT Button at start up - go for MacOS and boot into
10. select at system config. boot with Bootcamp.
11. restart Mac and load Windows !
12. after Logon -> Windows7 will install all needed drivers after some minutes Windows7 are ready to use incl. all new drivers !

That's it !
For me this work perfect ! it could be more easy but that's life ! ;)

Have fun !
and always keep in mind : BACKUP your System before you try this ! maybe you do some mistakes or my description are not clear for you !
Also you should be careful that you have all LIZENS : for your Software at Windows and also for Windows etc. !!!
