Need help - restore

Thread needs solution

Been using ATI for years 1st time I've had to restore.

win 8.1 - had to do a reinstall because could not boot from USB or DVD recovery. I do a full backup every 3 days.

Reinstalled 2015 > select restore disk > get last back up displayed > check backup box> get rolling circle cursor > screen shows select destination (no access) ATI hangs with rolling ball > exit and get ATI not responding.

Any help, suggestions or guidance greatly appreciated.

Always do your restores from the recovery CD, and always test your recovery medium before you might have to use for real. This is true for any imaging software. Of course, products support doing these operations from Windows, but as you can see on these forums, reality can be different

Thanks but Acronis 2015 will not boot from USB or DVD recovery. Reloaded 2014 and still will not boot from either. Tried recover from program - select source and destination - processing - restart - hangs on restart. Other than this forum it is almost impossible to get support.

If the computer doesn't boot from the recovery, then it is a fact that it will not work from Windows either. When you start a restore in Windows, ATI modifies the boot records of the computer and then triggers a reboot to boot into the same code that is running on the recovery CD. This is why all users on this forum recommend to test the recovery CD and make sure you can recover a couple of files from the backups you (can) do in Windows.

In your case, you will have to produce a WinPE based recovery CD and see if that works on your computer.
