2010 Edition Error: Cannot access Acronis Secure Zone. Possible reason is Acronis Secure Zone is blocked by another application.
When attempting to create a secure copy of the active partition to the Acronis Secure Zone (asz:) the operation fails with "Cannot access Acronis Secure Zone. Possible reason is Acronis Secure Zone is blocked by another application.". Creating a secure copy to the active partition (c:\Documents\...\My Secure Copies) works fine. Thanks

I have NOT enabled Archive Protection. This is a brand new install and I'm not trying to do anything fancy just get a secure copy of the main partition off to the Acronis Secure Zone.
... Unable to reach any kind of Acronis support I am about ready to try and get my money back and get something with a human at the other end of the transaction.

I'm probably trying to read meanings into what you are saying, that you don't intend.
What do you mean by Secure Copy?

Hi
I think I have the same problem. After using Acronis True Image for many Years, I have upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7, 64 bit, Ultimate and to Acronis True Image Home 2010.
When I start a backup of the system directory C to ASC, i get the same message as Donald has reported. Just as Donald, I'm using no Archive Protection or encryption.
The only way I can make a backup is to start the program from the boot loader, which isn't the right way, I think.
The problem isn't there if I make a backup to another drive.

I have same problem.
I have now spent about a month trying to 'upgrade' to True Image Home 2010'.
At first the problem was that it caused my system to freeze. After running uninstall and clean programs that removed registry keys etc (as recommended by support) it now runs.
However I still cannot backup to the Secure Zone. When attempted it results in "Cannot access Acronis Secure Zone. Possible reason is Acronis Secure Zone is blocked by another application."
I was advised to 'Unmount' the image. But when I request this it reports 'No items to display'.
A few more weeks?

Unbelievable! This post has been read by hundreds, several users complaints about the same problem and yet not a word from Acronis people! Why do they call this an official Acronis "support forum"? This is no support forum.
Acronis Secure Zone (asz) recent changes made this feature almost unusable. One cannot access asz while TI2010 is open, while a scheduled task is running, while... while... I would like to access asz when I want to, period.

Hello all,
Sorry for the delayed response.
It appears to be the common issue, so it's very important for us to investigate it and provide you with the fix.
I have checked our database and haven't found any reference to the similar issue, so I would ask you to provide us with more details, so we can pass the case to QA team for reproducing.
First of all, please make sure you use the latest build (6053), which is available here. To get access to updates you should first register Acronis software.
Please do the following on your PC:
1. Collect Acronis Info:
- Download the file;
- Run the downloaded file
The gathered information will be put in adv_report.zip in the same folder, where the AcronisInfo was saved.
Running AcronisInfo may take up to 5 minutes.
2. Get a screenshot of the error
If you are not familiar with making screen shots, please read the below step-by-step instructions.
- Get to the window which you want to make a screen shot of;
- Hit the (Alt+)PrintScreen button on your keyboard;
- Run Paint usually available in Start\Programs\Accessories or another graphics application;
- Choose Paste command in Edit menu;
- Save the result picture in JPEG format being preferable.
3. Collect Process Monitor log:
- Download the Process Monitor tool;
- Run it and agree with the license agreement.
click OK to apply the created filter to output.
- Run Acronis program and reproduce the problem
- Open File->Save and save log file (Logfile.PML), compress it and send to us.
NOTE: please open the application *right before* reproducing the issue, and close it as soon as it's reproduced and log is saved, it will help us to collect log without useless information.
Then submit a request for technical support. Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the issue appears and the link to this thread. Then please provide me with the case number you receive from our system, so I can pick it up and speed up the process. We will do our best to investigate the problem and provide you with a solution.
Additionally to this, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.
Thank you.

Dear Alexander,
I have the same problem like the other posters.
According to your advice I have gathered the requested information and tried to submit a request for technical support.
Then I have learned, that I have to pay for it; is that right?
I have spent my time to help you to improve your produkt in fixing a major problem; I don´t want to pay additionally to my wasted time.
What do you think about that and how to go forward?
Thank you in advance for an answer.

the upload of the processor Monitor file is done (hopefully).
Meanwhile I have purchased a new computer with the os win 7.
Up to now Acronis seems to work.
Nevertheless I have given you the information so that you have a chance to improve the product.

Alexander,
My case is a little different from the others. I was running XP until recently TIH 2009. About two weeks ago I installed Win7 and upgraded to TIH2010.
I found that I needed two folders that had been backed up under TIH2009, but each time I tried to restore them, I got the "Failed. Cannot access ASZ" message. In the KB, there was a suggestion to close and reopen TIH2010; that accomplished nothing.
Following the advice of someone earlier in the Forum, I started Acronis TIH2010 with the rescue disk and was able to recover the files.
If you need me to run through your process and send documentation, pls send a private message. It seems to me this is probably related in some way to Win7 security.

Hello,
I have the same problem: since a few weeks, I cannot make my scheduled incremental backup; the message I receive is the same.
I've followed the procedure and have the results, but the file from ProcessMonitor is huge, over 300 MB.
I hope you could send me an FTP link to upload ProcessMonitor log file.
Meanwhile, I send you the screen capture and the acronisInfo file.

Same problem.
Acronis 10 under Vista was absolutely fine.
Upgraded to Windows 7 and Acronis 2010 and it is garbage.
Have recently updated it to the latest build and still its a hit and miss affair as to whether it does its daily incremental backup to the secure zone or not.
It either says it is locked by another application or gives some other error code which, when searched for on the Acronis web-site, implies that snapapi.dll file can't be found...which is rubbish.
I average about one successful backup in every 4 which is simply not good enough.
None of the suggestions on this website have helped one iota.
Getting very cheesed off with this product. It is simply not fit for purpose.
I think I may even resort to using win 7's own built in back up as an alternative.

!7 days since my answer and still no response.
I'd better think of another softwre for backup.
Shame.

Not only that but they spelt your name wrong also.
Very poor customer services.
I was happy with previous incarnation of True image under Vista but this version is appalling

I had the same problem. I updated to build 7046. That didn't fix it. I then resized my ASZ a little smaller, restarted True Image, and I magically fixed it (for now).
