Where have I read it ? ( cloning or backups )

Thread needs solution

Hi... I know I read it somewhere a long time ago but I can't seem to find it . I'm talking about what is best when it comes to a dying drive, to clone or to make a backup image . I believe I read it's best to clone since most of the time the backup image process usually fails or gets corrupted, were as a clone one might be able to retreat some data . Can someone explain it again or show me where I read this from, thanks

The recommended solution by most of the knowledgeable folks here is make an image backup. Depending on how bad your failing drive is you may not be able to do either a backup or a clone. Either process can fail because of corruption caused by a failing drive. Using a backup image you can make a backup of your files only if that is all you need. You can't do this with a clone. Refer to Grovers Guides https://forum.acronis.com/forum/3426 in particular https://forum.acronis.com/forum/38691 for help with backup images.
