I can't clone my laptop hard drive with Acronis 2010
i have a Samsung NP900X3B with a 112GB Samsung SSD drive. I'm trying to clone the HDD to a portable USB drive so that I can re clone the laptop when my 78 year old mother messes up her laptop which she does regularly (without having to reinstall everything all over again). Unfortunately, I can't seem to clone the drive. I get the following error after reboot (and analyzing partition message): "Disk is not found. Press any key to reboot." Can anyone please help?

Shadowsport,
Happy new year! and thank you for your reply!
My laptop does not have a CD drive I don't have an external CD drive, and removing the SSD is not a viable option. What I am trying to do is create an image of the SSD drive ( I have done this on my desktop successfully with two HDDs - but not with a USB drive)
i just did a fresh install of OS, programs, and updates on the laptop. It took me all day.. My mother will use the laptop and she has a tendency of screwing things up (though I give her a lot of credit for being able to use a laptop at her age).
What I am trying to do is create an image of the laptop drive on an external USB drive so that if necessary i can wipe the laptop SSD drive and copy the image on the external drive back to the laptop. When I attempt a clone, Acronis seems to recognize both drives but gives errors after the reboot..
I am using Acronis image home 2010 and don't see an option to create a full disk image
Thanks

Greetings,
I understand and figured this is what you'd be facing, and was hoping you could do. Please see this PDF, credit MVP GroverH

You'll want to perform one or more full disk image back ups. This way you have more than one to revert to should the need arise. You can delete the older ones manually, or on a schedule should you choose to do so. Since you have a fresh install of the OS, I would keep that back up indefinitely. Be sure to validate the images periodically to ensure the images are readable and healthy. As a further step, you can test the restore capability by restoring just a single file from an image to the desktop. This will allow you to have high confidence your back ups with work in the event they are needed.

Thanks! I'm creating the backup now. Can I assume that in a few months, if the laptop gets all kind of viruses, bugs etc that I can use the recover option to restore my laptop SSD back to the original state (today's backup)? This method seems to be similar to a disk clone.
