Hard drives not recognized

Thread needs solution

Hi Acronis Forum User.

I have two identical servers(win2k3), but "Acronis True Image Home 10" did not recognize the HDD from the the second server.
There appears a Error Message like this: "No hard disk drive is available". After this message the Server reboots.

After extensive troubleshooting there must be a difference between both server. I've found the difference, but i think that is curious.

My Question:
Why Acronis does not recognize the hard disk drive... with the other raid Crontroller?

Thanks for any of you who try to help me.

Hello David Rosehnal,

Thank you very much for your post. I will definitely help you with this.

Can you please clarify something for me. Are you using Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 or Acronis True Image 10 Home? Are you running the task in Windows or from the bootable CD? At what step does this issue occur?

If this problem occurs in Windows, the most probable cause of this issue is that the drive does not have a valid MBR or a third party software is blocking the access to hard disk drives.

Can you please go through the troubleshooting steps described in this article - Acronis Product Does Not Detect Hard Disks in Windows, and if it does not resolve the issue, please collect the information described in the More information part of the article and send me a PM with those reports attached. I will be able to study them and provide you with a solution.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you.

Hi Anton :)
Thanks for the quick response.

Yes I will give you some more informations.
On the front of the Acronis package is written "Acronis True Image Home 2010 - PC Backup & Recovery". I know that is the latest version.
(Build 60.53)

I 've created a (standard) boot cd.

Windows 2003 Server function is provided so your idea that it could be the MBR is not the solution.
Third party software is also not installed.

I will collect the information and later I make this available to you.

Thanks
David

Good morning, David Rosehnal,

Thank you for replying.

I am very sorry, but Acronis True Image 2010 Home does not support server operating systems. This is a workstation product, and it supports Windows 7, Vista and XP.

Even though the boot CD worked one time, I am afraid we cannot guarantee that it will work on another machine, nor that the image will be restored successfully. Also, in case of any issues, we will not be able to provide you with support.

For server operating systems, I would recommend Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 Server for Windows. You can download a trial version from here and check the trial versions' limitations here.

At this point, I am afraid there is no need for all the diagnostic information, since it is required only when there are issues in Windows.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.
