Fairly new build and completely new to acronis

Thread needs solution

Hi all....

I recently put together a new computer, and bought acronis true image 15. I had a 1TB dell external harddrive, so I put the backup there.

For reasons I don't know my computer doesn't want to boot with that external hard drive attached.

I made a rescue boot cd.

I thought I'd experiment with the tool, but using the cd to boot from, and clicking on the recovery tool, I saw just a black screen. At that point the external hd was not attached. Later I tried again with the external hd attached with the same results. A black screen. Perhaps it takes a long time in black screen before it starts but it didn't seem that way to me.

Black screen when booting from the cd and trying to do a recovery???

THanks in advance for your help.

First, you did well when you decided to test the recovery CD!

The black screen could be an issue with the graphics card support by the recovery CD Linux OS, since you have a new build...

Try to produce a WinPE-based recovery CD and see if that makes a difference. winPE disks use Windows drivers.

Just a final comment to confirm...I made the suggested winpe based recovery disk, and just now successfully "recovered" the system back to last Sunday. It was a test, but good to know it all works.

Thanks

Good. The WinPE option is a bit slower to boot up, but hardware support is much better.
