Deleting backup versions;ATI 2014
I cannot find how to clear out unwanted backup versions. I don't think that I actually open the backup explorer and I cannot see any form of time line. Clicking the 'recover' option in the backup box does bring up the possibility of recovering a single backup but this is the last backup. I do not get any 'delete' options and the 'time line' as shown in the manual (i.e. squares across the bottom of the screen with times inside) I have never seen.
Is there some kind of setting that I have missed to initialise this time line?
I am aware from the forum that others have had variations on this problem but how do I see the timeline?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks for your help GroverH. When I look at file backups, I can now see the timeline and have deleted unwanted (old) backups.
However, for image backups, I do not get a timeline but just a single box which only offers the latest backup in a window labelled 'Disk Recovery'. Should there not be a similar option to that with files so that old backups can be removed?

All tib backups created via a single specific backup task should appear in the time line for that specific task, or be able to be added to the time via my example GH21.
What type backups are missing? Full or incremental or differential? Maybe show a capture of the storage folder listing the missing tib files.
When using gh21, be sure and select ALL files in the chain before clicking the "add to list" option.

Again, thank you GroverH. I am not sure just what I have done that I did not do before but I can now see the system backups on the time line.
For completeness, the backups were incremental 5 steps between full backup and retention of no more than 3 chains.
Ah, just checking on settings while I wrote I have found the issue. If I right click in the box and then choose 'recover files' then I do get the timeline. Selecting 'recover' for the menu in the box just gives the 'Disk Recovery' window.
Thanks very much for your help.

When looking at the time line, note the upper left corner. You can view both disk mode and file mode--depending upon your selection in upper left corner.

To summarize, in your post #5, you indicate that your chain length is 6 tib files (full +5 incrementals), retaining 3 chains (3x 6=18 chains normal retention).
Once the 3 chains (18 tib files) have been created, the automatic deletion of the oldest chain will occur immediately following each occurence of future FULL backups. Upon completing the full after 3 chains (backup 19), the backup quota has been exceeded, thus the deletion occurs to keep only the 3 newest chains.

Thank you for the confirmation. I had assumed that what you describe was what happened bt it is good to get confirmation, especially of when the oldest chain is actually deleted.
Thanks.
