Backup compression

Thread needs solution

Hello, just upgraded from True image 2013 to 2015.
I am obviously missing something here.
I am wanting to adjust the compression level of my backups. I follow the guide, go to options, advanced, performance and the compression level should be there, above priority.
All I have is a priority level. see attached screen capture.
I'm backing up complete hard drive to a second hard drive locally.
I've also tried it on a directory only backup as well.

Any idea's?

It going to be a waste of an upgrade if I can't compress my backups.

Thanks
Michael

So no one has seen this issue with compression levels and Acronis themselves can't assist with my query.

2015 does support the variation of compression levels, is this correct?.
The manual states it can, or is it a function that has been removed as well?.

I've been a long time user of Acronis (started with 2009) and this is the first time I've every had troubles.
Now after reading these forums and all the issues with 2015, I'm sorry I purchased the upgrade. I should have read all this 1st and stayed with 2013.

If there are so many issues with this version, why is it still being sold??????????.

Not happy, now looking at other backup programs.

Compression level is there just above priority. I suggest you reinstall the program.

You may find that you can't change the compression level for existing backup tasks made with earlier versions of TI. Try deleting the tasks and recreating them.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the response.
as per my original post, the screen capture shows no compression level, above priority.
I've re-installed 3 times and same thing, no compression.
I deleted all my previous backup profiles and created new ones in 2015 and new destination locations as well.
Running windows 7 with latest build of Acronis 6525.

Any other idea's?.

Michael

Michael,

If you have just upgraded to 2015, you have more support options than just this user forum. You get thirty days of free professional support from the date of purchase. Follow the link below and use the live chat option. You should go ahead and generate a system report to save you some time.

In my experience with 2015, the compression level can only be set when the backup task is created. After it has been run the first time that option disappears. From your most recent post, it doesn't sound like it is showing up at any point. By default it should still be backing up using the normal compression setting. I have observed that setting compression at anything above normal drastically increases the duration of the backup operation without significantly reducing the archive size, but your experience may vary.

If you purchased the upgrade from the Acronis website, you can use the following link to request a refund from cleverbridge within the first 30 days for any reason.

Joey,

Thanks for the information.
the compression level does not appear at all even when creating a new profile.
I'm really disappointed with this version as I have had other issues as well and used Acronis for many many years.
I'm removing it and requesting a refund.

Looking for an alternative.

Thanks again.

Michael
