Operations in progress and Windows boot failure

Thread needs solution

Not sure if this is coincidence but last night when I shut down I had the good old message "Operations in progress ........" and so I assumed that a scheduled backup was still running under True Image 2015. I checked before I went to bed and the machine had shut down. Good
This morning when I powered on the machine I got the dreaded Blue Screen with Windows Boot Manager telling me something about the boot device being inaccessible.
I tried my limited knowledge of trying to reset the boot device which seemed determined to stay as the CD drive rather than HDD.
Having had a recent painful experience of rebuilding Windows I have given up at this stage and taken the machine into a local computer shop.
But is it just coincidence that this happened after the "Operations in progress..." incident which has caused so much trouble with Acronis over recent year?

I would think it coincidence. The 2015 app is designed to abort any ongoing process if a user selects to shutdown the machine, flag it as cancelled by user, and then shutdown the machine. Your statement that your machine was stuck at looking at the CD drive as the boot drive indicates that your machine bios had reset itself to default values. That is a concern which I hope you told the repair shop about. If it were me I would request that the shop perform a RAM memory test on the machine and attempt to determine if there might be a bad module in the machine.
