Installation of ATI2015

Thread needs solution

I have been using ATI2014 build 6673 on a Windows 8.1-64 bit desktop for quite some time. My backups are stored on an external USB HD. The backups are created from within the Windows environment.

I have just purchased and downloaded ATI2015. I have read an Acronis Knowledge Base article that says 2015 can be installed "over the top" of 2014.

1. Is installing over-the-top the forum recommended procedure?

2. Can I expect the backups made with 2014 to be recognized by 2015 or would it be better to start new backup routines?

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

It's good to see someone asking before trouble starts.

You should definitely uninstall TI 2014 first. You should also run the cleanup utility for TI 2014 and do a reboot before installing TI 2015. If you have Disk Director (or any other Acronis programs installed) you will need to reinstall them after installing TI 2015.

You will need to create your tasks over again as TI 2015 does not have the option to import tasks exported from previous versions of TI. TI 2015 will be able to restore your TI 2014 backups. They will not be automatically recognized by TI 2015, but can be added to the list using the Add Backup/Add existing backup button at the bottom of the GUI.

TI 2014 cleanup utility https://kb.acronis.com/content/34876 . Read this fully and be sure to remove any Secure Zone (if installed) and disable the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager (if activated) before running the cleanup utility.

Thank you for that good advice.! I'll give it a go!

You're welcome.

Uninstall/Install went without a hitch. Completed a full disk backup & validation. Also did a restore test of a single Word file. All good. Will create the rescue media later today. Nice GUI! I'm impressed with the product so far.

May visit again with more questions.

Thanks again for your help.
