how to replicate a computer license

If i want to duplicate my computer, make an image and install that on a new hardware. Do i then buy a licnese of microsoft windows, then type in the new license into the new computer (will windows allow that?)

Suggest you Google something like: change license key and specify your version of Windows since they aren't all the same.

Remember if you install an image of your OS on computer 1 onto computer 2 and all the hardware isn't identical it will choke on incompatible drivers. This isn't a total showstopper but it will require some work to get it straightened out. Acronis has a product called Universal Restore that will deal with this but it can be done without it.

My preference, FWIW, is to do clean installs on new computers. Good referesher on Windows configuration, a chance to nicely cleanup all the crap you rarely, if ever, use and it you have some obscure problem down the road you won't be wondering if it is because you did a force-fit of the old OS config.
