Intel RAID 1 Support Backup Recovery without bootable physical media
Hello all,
We are migrating our systems to the Intel RAID 1 setup for redundancy purposes. Previously we have had good experience using Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 for non-RAID systems for general backup and restoration purposes without the use of external bootable media. However with Acronis True Image 2015 in conjunction with Intel RAID 1 have encountered a problem - we cannot restore from a backup without DVD or a flash drive.
This functionality is crucial to us, as our systems operate in the environments that cannot provide access to the external physical media.
With True Image 2015, when trying to go our usual route and restore without use of DVD computer reboots and complains that it cannot find an image. The image is on the secondary drive and can be restored easily if booted from recovery DVD.
We have been told that the issue is that the Acronis is lacking drivers needed to support recovery without physical media. Subsequently we have managed to create a bootable DVD that works. But this is not a solution for us - we have no access to the computer in our intended operating environment.
Can you clarify that this is intended behavior with Acronis True Image 2015 and Intel RAID 1?
Are there any workarounds?
What can we do to make it work?

Restoring without a recovery media relies on some Linux-based code stored on the system disk, and the modification of boot records when you start the restore operation to reboot into this environment instead of in Windows.
When users have trouble using the recovery media, an alternative is to use a WinPE based recovery medium that typicaly have better hardware support. In your case, though, this is not the problem, but there is no way out of the box to fix it. You might have other boot options for your systems; maybe it is possible to boot into an WinPE image containing Acronis true image located on the RAID, but it is beyond my competence to advice you here, I am just speculating.
Doesn't Backup & Recovery work for you any longer? Acronis True Image is a consumer product...

We changed integration vendors. New vendor claims he can only buy newest Acronis products. Thus, Backup & Recovery 11 is not an option.
However this does not excuse us not trying business version of the product. I will try Acronis Backup version and report back on findings. I will try older one as well.
However this leads me to the question: If we find an older version of Acronis be compatible with our system. Would we still be able to purchase it?

I have tried Acronis Backup 11.5 and it has the same issue. Upon setting up a task and booting to Acronis GUI - no drives found, nowhere to restore from. This pretty much tells me that there are no drivers for the RAID array - essentially the same problem as a True Image.
