Backup Windows Server / NAS

Thread needs solution

Hi,

Info:

Hi,

I got a problem with back up on Windows Server to my NAS.

Server 1:

- I boot from Acronis CD
- I got the Host-Name: localhost and
IP-Address: 10.10.3.15
- if I click on "configure network..." then I also see the Networkadapter etho:
Netzwerkadapter: e100
Hardwareaddress: 00:E0.18:07:76:8F
Status: Connected
- if I klick on "Management Console", create a Backup and give the Backup-Destination, I see
the Networkfolder but when I click on it, nothing happens

Server 2:

- I boot from Acronis CD
- I got the Host-Name: localhost but
none IP-Address
- if I click on "configure network..." I see an empty mask
- if I klick on "Management Console", create a Backup and give the Backup-Destination, I see no Networkfolder.

Info:

- the NAS is in the network reachable
- If you work with the OS, you can reach the NAS from the Server
- Standalone PC are no problem to back up. If you klick here on the Networkfolder, than you will see the NAS and you can back up on it.

Any suggestions to solve my problem?

Hello Jürgen Mai,

Thank you for posting this issue, I will certainly help you with it.

The most probable cause for this issue is that the Acronis bootable CD does not have the necessary drivers for your network card. To resolve this issue I would recommend trying our bootable CD base on ISOLINUX. Please check this article for additional information.

If the ISOLINUX version does not resolve the problem, we can then get some diagnostic information from your hardware so that our Expert team can create a custom ISOLINUX version which is suitable for your needs.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Hello Anton,

first of all thank you for your answer. The ISOLINUX does help partly.

After burning the ISO image and then boot from it, Server 2 works faultless. Now you can creat Backups.

But if you boot Server 1 from the same CD, Acronis starts, but then it hang up. You get a black picture with a Acronis logo an the following information:

Loading, pleas wait...
/bin/ipwatchd : error while loading shared libraries: libpcap.so.0.8: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory no block devices found
Reading all physical volumes. This may take a while...

But nothing happens.

I have the same picture on Server 2, but after a few seconds, it disappeared and run forward.

What should I do, to creat for you some diagnostic information from my hardware to get a custom ISOLINUX version?

Info:

Both Server are identical

Hello Jürgen Mai,

Thank you very much for posting and you are very welcome!

It is too early to start gathering diagnostic information from your hardware. We still have some things we can try doing. Update 2 is also coming out very soon and it has a much improved bootable media.

On the machine that fails to boot please try the following. When booting from the Acronis bootable CD you will get a list of parameters at some point. Boot from the 2nd parameter called - "quiet". Wait for a few minutes for the text to load. When it stops, press enter a few times until you get the # prompt. In the command prompt issue the following command and press enter: /bin/product

This command will take you directly to the graphical interface of our software and you will be able to continue working with it.

If, for some reason this procedure fails, please let me know in as much detail as possible what exactly happens and what errors are you getting.

Thank you very much for your patience, please let me know if you have additional questions.

Hello Anton,

if I boot the machine that fails, I will geht the following parameters:

0 - collect sysinfo output to a flash drive
1 - Acronis Backup & Recovery Advanced Workstation
2 - Acronis Backup & Recovery Advanced Workstation without "quiet"
3 - Acronis Backup & Recovery Advanced Workstation [acpi = off noapic]
4 - Acronis Backup & Recovery Advanced Workstation [acpi = off noapic] without "quiet"
5 - Acronis Backup & Recovery Advanced Workstation nousb mode
6 - Acronis Backup & Recovery Advanced Workstation nousb mode without "quiet"
7 - Acronis Backup & Recovery Advanced Workstation low graphic
8 - Acronis Backup & Recovery Advanced Workstation low graphic without "quiet"
boot: _

I get no 2nd paramater which is only challes - "quite".
If I boot from parameter 2 - Acronis Backup & Recovery Advanced Workstation without "quiet"

Acronis starts, but then it hang up.

When it stops, I press enter a few times, the cursor goes down and down but the prompt does not appears.

Can you give me further information, at what point I have to press what button to get the prompt?

PS: All other parameters does not also work.

Hello Jürgen!

Thank you ofr keeping us posted!

It looks more like it somehow cannot access some particular hardware, so we will need to take a closer look at the issue. Could you please kindly gather the following?

  1. Acronis Linux Report from the newer media
  2. If possible, Acronis Info from the target machine

After that please kindly contact support and let us know the case number - we will be glad to make sure that it is handled in a proper way.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!
