Activate Acronis Startup Recovery Manager
Hey,
I just installed TrueImage2009 and I am having difficulty activating the Startup Recovery Manager. When I try to activate the recovery manager I just get failed message and then the program must be closed. I have tried several times with the same results.
Any ideas or solution would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Wayne

Hey MudCrab,
Thanks for your response,
I am using the latest build, I assume, as I only purchased and downloaded TrueImage 2009 from the Acronis site yesterday.
I am using Windows Vista Home Premium with the latest service pack.
For security I have Advanced Windows Care (Free Edition) and IObit Security 360. What would potentially stop TI from changing the MBR within these security programs?
Thanks for your help.

Hello Wayne,
Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/ | Acronis True Image]]
To find the exact reason of the issue we need diagnostic files:
1) - Reproduce the problem;
- Do not close the "Application has stopped working" window;
- Run Task Manager (press Ctrl-Shift-Esc);
- Go to "Processes" tab and right-click on the crashed process;
- Select the "Create Dump File" item;
- Pick the .DMP file created;
- Open Start->Run, type %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive string and hit Enter;
- After that you will see a folder (or a few folders), the name of which starts with "Report"
- Collect the Report.wer file from the last created folder.
2) - Open Start\Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Information;
- Choose the "Save" option in the "File" menu (or "Action" menu under Windows 2000), enter the "File name" and set the field "Save as type" to "System Information File (*.NFO)";
Attach the files to your next post.
Actually, I would recommend you to use Acronis Bootable Rescue Media instead of Acronis Startup Recovery Manager. Acronis Startup Recovery Manager overwrites the MBR and requires a caution in usage.
Thank you.

Hi Wayne, it would also be nice if you can share the steps if you've got this fixed?
