using True Image with solid state drives

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I have been using Acronis True Image for quite a few years now. I use it to create an image of my hard drive at a point in time when everything is working how I want. If I have a hard drive failure, I rely on the fact that after I replace the hard drive and restore my image, everything will work exactly as before. Even if I don't have a hard drive failure, if I install software or make a configuration change that I regret, I can restore my image to go back to a time before the configuration change.

I have a great deal of confidence that True Image does everything I need, but I am now working on my first PC that has solid state hard drive. I just wanted to ask - is there anything particular to solid state drives that I have to pay attention to when using True Image to create and restore drive images? Or should everything work just as it does with standard hard drives?

Thanks in advance,
Paul

Windows 8.1 Pro, 32 bit, 500gb ssd, no problems cloning so far - to or from 500gb conventional HD.

Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 you should have NO problems. In fact, Acronis 2014, and I am sure 2015, maintains the alignment of the SSD as well, so you never have to worry about that.

Even though the program has other, unresolved issues, it should work just fine with your SSD. I had it installed on two different computers and that was never a problem. Just be aware of unrequested incremental backups, backups being removed and anything chosen to be your "default settings" not to be saved. But, no worries about your SSD.

Hello all,
I did not have any trouble restoring a "C" drive image to a new SSD, HOWEVER, I was using TIH2014.
I am still not convinced that 2015 is ready for a serious "Prime Time" risk. There are way too many negative comments in the 2015 forum for me to jump.

I understand and agree completely. Acronis has seen fit to ban me from access their forums!!! Whe??? Because I merely stated how incompetent and ignorant their "engineers" are. Perhaps they will ban me from this forum as well!!! What happened to free speech in America??? PEOPLE, DON'T BUY THEIR SOFTWARE.

No issues with Acronis and SSD in general. The software is aware of SSD and 4k disks wrt to partition alignment, etc.

We have seen several posts about issues between Acronis and Crucial M500 SSD in the past, but not recently it seems. I am not sure whether the issues were specific to the user's configuration, of whether a bug was identified and fixed in ATI.

Yes you did. One way or another, this software will mess up your computer. Acronis will guarantee it. Just ask them.
