Acronis True Image or Acronis Backup

Thread needs solution

Hello,
I want to backup data from my system, but I don't know which of the Acronis True Image or the Acronics Backup is right for me. Can someone please give me some guidance please?

My system have new daily generated data. Data generated within past 90 days are stored in the same Win7 Prof system. Data older than 90 days are stored in a NAS. MySQL records and manages all the data. On daily base, some degree of changes will be make to old data (any time, could be from 10 years old data to data just collected). MySQL sits at the Win7 Prof system. I want all backup to be stored on a different NAS.

I want to back up all new and old data as well as the database. (Please note: Data are located at 2 different systems, - a Win7 pro PC also a Synology NAS & backup will be stored in a completely different Synology NAS). Because changes to old data are made on daily base, so I have to track incremental and differential changes and make backup wrt these new modifications (plus new data).
So which Acronis' product will meet my needs? True Image or Backup? or None?

Thanks in advance.

Hello sorcerer stone,

thank you for your question.

As far as I know MySQL is not a VSS-aware application, so you'll need to stop database to create a consistent backup.

Therefore I would recommend you Acronis Backup because it can stop/restart your database before/after snapshot. In Acronis True Image the only option would be to stop database before/after backup. Please take a look at this article for more details.

Thank you.
