True Image 2015 and Universal Restore

Thread needs solution

Hi,

Just bought TI15 and am trying to test out a backup/restore process using Universal restore (UR).
So far I have had no luck and am probably doing something stupid...so need someone to kick me in the right direction.
steps so far:
1. Using TI15 on Machine A, I made a complete backup of System and a couple of additional Drives. This Backup has resulted in a System A.TIB file as expected. I have moved this file to a network share.
2. On Machine B, using Universal restore I have created a default (linux based) bootable media in ISO format.
3. On Machine B, I have set up a VMWare virtual machine. I have set its CD/DVD drive to automatically boot from the UR iso.

So - the VM indeed boots from the iso. I do NOT get the screen listed in the manual...(see attached), but rather get a screen offering me two choices - (i) Acronis Universal Boot (64-bit with UEFI support) and (ii) Continue OS booting. I duly choose (i).

This loads the Universal Boot app and brings me to a screen that lets me choose an Operating System (greyed out and unselectable), as well as an Automatic and Mass Storage driver selection.

I am stuck! I had expected to see a set of locations to choose my TIB file from. How do I proceed???

Thanks in advance! I'm hoping I'm just missing something pretty simple!

Using Universal Restore is a two step process. First step is to do a restore of A.tib to machine B. Second step is to boot machine B with the Universal Boot media and select the OS and add the mass storage and chipset drivers needed to make machine A's OS work on machine B.

mmmh....but I don't want to restore to Machine B...I want to restore to a VM inside machine B.
but I guess, reading between the lines, I should restore to the VM on Machine B first...?? And to do that, I presume I must create a new set of boot media from True Image 2015?

Did I get that right?

Thanks!

Yes.

Hi,
Unfortunately this option is not available in 2015 Acronis has separated both universal restore option and disk restore option in separate options install Acronis and acronis universal restore on your PC and creat a Boot media using universal restore application which is installed then select both the options from the menu boot media 2015 and universal restore 64 and 32 bit optional then save as iso file and burn it to cd and boot with the cd u will get 3 options while booting with this cd then u can select either any option for restore and universal restore but in universal restore you cannot restore the TIB file you can only add drivers to the existing OS which is already restored.

What happened to the boot time recovery option. I'm using Reflect these days, it is very slow but retains the boot menu option I remember in Acronis once upon a time. I was reconsidering Acronis due to Refects tardiness.
