Operation Progress Window

Thread needs solution

Hello
I originally had True Image 9 and recently bought a new computer upgraded Windows 7. I purchased Acronis True Image Home 2010 and installed it.
When creating my first back up I noticed that the Operation Progress Window was not functioning in that nothing worked on the whole window.
e.g. Current Operation Progress, Total Operation progress, Remaining time or advice when operation copleted. Also the printing on the top menu bar i.e. dates etc cannot be read.
To establish that my operation had completed I had to check my back up drive and watch the size of the back up. When this stopped increasing I assume that the operation was complete.
I uninstalled and re-installed the program to no avail so could you please help me correct this problem or would i need to purchase a new copy of the program as this one may be contaminated.
SIncerely
Dennis

Dennis,

Which build of TI, what version of W7?

Is this an English language version of W7 and TI?

I'm assuming you've upgraded over Vista or did you mean that your new machine is to you, an upgraded system?

Has it actually made an image?

Where are you imaging to, external drive, internal or another partition on the same drive?

Have you registered your serial number via your Acronis account as yet? Once you do, you will be able to redownload the latest build of TI 2010 from your account - no repurchase necessary.

Thanks for replying, I am really a newbie to this dort of problem.
TI is Acronis True Image Home 2010 ( thats from the box)
Both are English versions
Upgraded means new computer, old computer has TI 9
I assume the image has been made as it shows up on my external drive. although nothiing like the previous version.
and yes the serial number is registered so I will follow your suggestion to download the latest.
Thank you so much
Dennis

ps I will let you know how I fared

OK Dennis,

In this instance I would suggest uninstalling the build you have on your new PC before installing the latest build.

Downloaded current build, uninstalled current version and installed downloaded version
Operation Progress Window has changed to Operation Status. Now only one progress bar named Initialising but nothing is moving. Cant tick shut down computer and no remaining time advice.
One plus however is that I now have an icon in my task bar which gives me the % completed
I guess I can live with that but it does shake my confidence in the product. I'm now wondering if it will work if I have to restore.
Apart from that, thanks a million for your input, I will keep on trying.

Can you post some screen snips of the problem?

Is this installed for single user or all users?

Do you have Admin permissions on your log in?

Do you have VSS enabled? (if you are not on a network you don't need this enabled)

Could your Firewall or AV deep scan be causing a problem?

Do you have bitlocker enabled or some other encryption software running?

Perhaps a screen snip of the Services that are running might help.

Have you checked your disks with chkdsk /r ? - The system drive will require a reboot to run.

Is your video driver up to date for W7? This can cause all sorts of problems which you wouldn't think are video related.

How large is your pagefile?

Is your temp directory under your user name full?

TI uses RAM quite heavily more than a graphics card does it might be worth running memtest86 for at least 12 hours just to make sure you don't have a flaky RAM module.

Does TI seem to use a lot of CPU time? How many cores is your CPU?

Hi,

I have the same problem on my Acer Aspire notebook. On my other machine (a desktop PC) it runs without problems and with a normal operation of the operation progress window. On both machines runs the the built of TI 2010. Any suggestions?

Regards,
Rainer

Rainer,

What OS is on your notebook and which build of 2010 are you using?

Is this a German or English language version?

Has it ever worked correctly on your notebook?

What type of backup are you performing - files and folders or disk image?

Does it complete the task properly and does it take a long time or about right? In other words is the progress bar just reporting the wrong information or is the imaging process extremely slow?

I assume you are imaging to an external hard drive is this a USB or Firewire type?

Sorry for the extremely late reply...

I'm using Windows 7 (32 bit) Professional on my notebook, which is an Acer 5502. I have the german version of TrueImage 2010 installed (german) with the 2nd update pack and it has never worked correctly before.

Normally I use it for a backup of files/folder to a network drive. But the problem also occurs when performing a backup of a complete disk. The task, however, works properly and shows no unexpected time consumption. It is just the little window with the progress information which does not work.

I just saw that there is a new update available. Hence, i will give it a try.

BTW: I will visit this forum more often from now on. Maybe you can find the solution to this issue.
