Restoration of Raid 1 - (two disc) computer to non raid (one disc) computer

Thread needs solution

I use disc backup regularly (TI 2014) to backup my Raid 1 computer. The backups run perfectly and I am able to restore files easily.

I have never restored a disc image and I would like to do so before I actually need to do it. I have created a bootable usb rescue device and that works perfectly. I have an older spare computer to do the practice restore on.

What issues should I be aware of when I do the system restore to another computer?

Hello John,
Without knowing much about your hardware or which OS you are using, I would focus on the following:

Disabling RAID in the configuration utility (RAID Config Utility) Should also include reverting disks to non-RAID
Setting the correct operate mode for the storage controller in BIOS (likely AHCI, SATA or Configure SATA as IDE)

Its not always possible to migrate from a RAID 1 to a single drive. This will depend largely on your OS and hardware. If you plan to use UR, you should have storage and/or chipset drivers on hand during the recovery.

Ensure you have a full disk image BU or a back up of your data should things not go as you planned.

Thank you for replying shadowsports! Just to be clear I will be doing this restore as practice before I actually do need to do a restore. It will be from my current computer to a an older computer that I have around as backup. I will get the hardware information of both the machines. Unfortunately I am not sophisticated enough to know about storage and chipset drivers. I guess i need to learn more. My goal is to have a computer ready that I have know I can restore a backup on to should something go wrong with the primary computer. The primary computer is business related and its functioning is mission critical. Again thank you so much for replying.
