True Image 2013 - The back up is corrupted

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I have been using Acronis TI 2013 for around 2 years without any issues. Today I took a backup and tried validating it. It gave me an error

"Operation with partition '0-0' was terminated.
Details:
The archive is corrupted (0x70020)
Tag = 0xF5F8CBCF76155663"

Now I have tried going for the full backup , incremental backup but every-time I get the same error during validation.

The strange part is the older backups are validating fine. It is the newer backup which is creating problem. Can someone please help?

Details:
Windows 8.1 64 bit
Acronis True Image 2013
Storage Device is Western Digital External Hard Disk 1 TB connected through USB

Thank You!

Search the forum. There are many threads on this topic.

"Corrupted" is, unfortunately, a rather non-specific error message, in spite of its rather specific sounding term. It really just means that ATI can't validate the archive, which can be caused by disk errors or connection errors, rather than any problems with the .tib file itself.

Validation failure is often due to hardware issues. To troubleshoot, see Grover's new backup and restore guides http://forum.acronis.com/forum/29618 and http://kb.acronis.com/content/1517

From an administrative command prompt, run chkdsk /r on each partition of the internal drive, and on the external HD. If there are hidden partitions, assign letters to them so you can chkdsk.
Also run a drive checking utility from the drive manufacturer, as those sometimes catch errors missed by chkdsk.

Don't connect via a hub, a port in a monitor, or a USB extension cord, etc. Connect the external drive directly to a USB port on the rear of the computer case.

@tuttle:

I did a thorough hardware test for my WD drive with a sofwtare provided by WD itself. It took around 10 hrs to complete and the test showed no errors.

Good. But, that is only one of the steps I suggested. Do them all.
