Where did "My Documents" go in Home 2010 Image?

Thread needs solution

I have the Acronis True Image Home 2010. I have used an older version of Acronis before.
I want to image my whole disc occasionally.
I have successfully done that, backup, my discs, but cannot understand the new version's naming (I guess you'd call it) of the files/folders in the new image.
For instance, in the old one you'd click on the image, it'd open it as a virtual drive and you could see/manipulate all the files folders.
With this one, I see them and can use them.
BUT..I don't see "my documents"..which holds all my pix/etc important stuff.
So...can anyone tell me where 'my documents' are at in the new layout of Home 2010?
I know it 's there..but for the life of me I can't find it.
Thanks!

Mark:

Is your operating system Vista or Windows 7? If so, My Documents is a Directory Junction (or Simlink in Linux jargon) that points to the real folder. Directory Junctions in Windows allow a single folder to have more than one name. C:\Documents and Settings\Your_Name\My Documents is the same as C:\Users\Your_Name\Documents in Windows 7 and Vista. You will find your files in the latter location. The directory junction is added for backwards compatibility with older software that expects files to be in the former location.

Thanks! It is Win 7.
I see those there, but I don't see My pictures, vids etc. My Music is in a separate folder though.

Mark:

Music, Pictures, and Videos should be folders within the Documents folder unless you moved them elsewhere.

Thanks Mark Something.
Your reply helped me also, having encountered a similar conundrum when just a moment browsing an archive for a pdf file in Vista \ Documents folder.

Acronis True Image Home 11 (ATRIH11) hangs indeffinately, while backing up folders which also contain *.MTS video files.
The MTS files were moderate size up to 422mBt, and back up OK when a full system HDDs backup is run.
When the folderwas simply backed up by using 'MS Explorer-Copy' function, it completed the save within a minute.
The external 320 Gbt HDD was in good condition and had lots of available continuous space.
I tried the BU using ATRIH11 sveral times with same result. The video files were not corrupt.
Any suggestions?

Hello,

Mark Wharton, thanks for your valuable help.

Christopher, let me shed some light on the issue.

When you back up the whole hard disk drives or partitions, Acronis product creates a snapshot of the system (see SnapAPI). When you run a file backup, the product creates a copy of each file and puts it into a TIB archive keeping the folder structure.

Acronis True Image runs out of system resources on the machine when backing up thousands of files (in one or several folders). There are 2 available workarounds:

  • There is an issue with the compression algorithm. To avoid this, in the task options, set the compression level to none.
  • Try running separate backup tasks, so that the amount of files in a onetime backup will be reduced.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.
