Failed to read data from the disk
I'm running Acronis TrueImage 2013 on Windows 7.
NOTE: I've found several other threads that related to this error message but none quite address the specific issue I'm seeing.
I'm getting this error message from Acronis:
Failed to read data from the disk. Failed to read from sector '-1,102,428,359' of hard disk '9'. ...

I'd love to be able to run CHKDSK on this disk to figure out if there are bad sectors, as the message itself and other threads recommend. But how do I figure out what disk I have is hard disk '9'? I only have 3 hard drives: an SSD (my system drive, Disk 0, C:, an NTFS drive) a 2 TB HD (Disk 1, F:, NTFS) and another 2 TB HD (Disk 2, G:, NTFS). Then I also have 4 Disk slots reserved for my 4-slot card reader (Disks 3, 4, 5, and 6; H:, I:, J:, and K:, respectively) which usually has nothing plugged in but sometimes has my CF and SD card plugged in to two of its slots. Then I have two external HD's connected (Disk 7 and Disk 8, M: and N:, respectively). So what is Disk 9? I do have a Network drive (a Synology NAS drive) which is the destination for my backup. Is that Disk 9? It doesn't show up in Disk Management, so I can't be sure. Even if that is the case, you cannot run CHKDSK on a network drive, so how would I check it?
Furthermore, the error message is talking about a negative sector number, which is bizarre. I have gotten this error before, though, and other times it is not a negative number. The previous time I got this error, it was telling me it couldn't read from sector 1,785,693,801. So the negative number might just be a red herring and irrelevant.
Main issue though, is how do I know what is Drive 9, and how do I check a network drive for bad sectors?

Thanks. I have discovered Synology's SMART Test and ran the Extended Test on both drives of the NAS (it's RAID 1) and it showed no errors.
I also ran chkdsk /r on my C: drive. I wasn't in front of the screen when it finished, and it launched right into Windows when it finished, so I don't know whether it had found and fixed any errors or not.
But after that, I still get the same error from Acronis TrueImage.
Any other thoughts?

Have a look at the log that was create when Chkdsk ran ... here is a link to finding the log

If the log came back clean, perhaps someone else can shed light on the mysterious "disk 9"

Thanks for that. Not sure how "clean" clean needs to be. It came back with 0 bad sectors, though it did have some correcting to do, namely:
CHKDSK discovered free space marked as allocated in the master file table (MFT) bitmap.
Correcting errors in the Volume Bitmap.
Windows has made corrections to the file system.
That doesn't look like anything that would make Acronis not be able to read a disk, though.
I'm attaching the whole log file.
Still not sure C: drive is 'Disk 9'. That is usually Disk 0.
I'm also attaching what Disk Manager shows as my disks. No Disk 9. Yet the error message still says it failed to read from sector '-1,750,886,650' of hard disk '9'. Error image also attached.

Hi Rosie,
Actually that error could cause a problem since free space marked as allocated by the OS might keep any application from reading from that portion of a disk. Still looking at your disk9 and decrementing (-) sector issue.

Actually.... Please format the 1164.38 GB of unformatted space on Disk 8, assign a drive letter, reboot and retest. Thanks
