Email Notification to outlook.com

Thread needs solution

We have Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 for windows

We have configured email notification with our exchange server.
This works fine.

However we are moving to office 365 and I want to set up email notification with an outside address.
I have read various posts and still it does not work for me.

I have myemail@outlook.com in the email address
I have smtp-mail.outlook.com in the SMTP server: Although I have also tried smtp.outlook.com as some people seem to thing that is the right smtp server name.

I have set the port to 587.
I have put myemail@outlook.com in t he Username:
I have put the right password in the Password: field

I have clicked additional E-mail parameters... and turned ssl ON.
I have put localaddress@mydomain.com in the from address.

The errors I get are as follows see attachments. (I have used both the smtp-mail.outlook.com and smtp.outlook.com .)

By the way note the third attachment. This is the error when i turn ssl off.

People have said that they get it working. Im hoping someone can help me out.
Regards
Colin

Hello Colin,

This is related to TLS certificate verifications and should be fixed in the latest updates (build larger than 37XXX).

Thank you.

One of my versions is 11.5.38929
1. Are you saying it should work on that machine?

2. Why do you think some people can get it working. At a least that seems to be true in some cases.

3. Is there a way to get it working with Gmail ??

Thanks.

Hello Colin,

1. Yes, this specific error should no longer bother you.

2. Some people might have a newer build with the fix or they might be using a different SMTP server not using TLS encryption

3. Yes. In fact, we have instructions to do just that in this KB article.

Im sorry but this article you have indicated does not talk about gmail but rather exchange?

Do you have one specifically about gmail.

thanks.

Hello,

There is a collapsible section, at the bottom, called "Setting up E-mail notifications for Gmail " in the article I linked.
