bin/ipwatchd error in TI Home 2010
I have just upgraded to TI Home 2010 from 2009. With 2009 I could backup an image of my laptop hard drive, and then restore it subsequently without any problems. With 2010, backups work fine but when I try to restore I encounter the following problems:
- when I boot from a bootable CD I get an error "missing /bin/ipwatchd" and then Acronis loads
- after I have restored my hard drive - which works OK - the program seems to hang for minute or so before
Is there something wrong with the bootable media I have created, or something wrong with TI Home 2010?

Phil
I also get error message when booting from my created boot cd, but
the application does backup and restore perfectly. I use ATIH 2010 also.
Are you saying you backup your laptop and then restore to it immediately?
That to me is a little risky unless you have 2 different hard drives.

I dont normally backup and restore for "fun". I was upgrading to W7 from Vista. Once W7 was on I reaslised I had left some info on my Vista setup that I needed so I backed up my W7 C: drive, restored Vista C: to get my info, then restored W7.
Interesting to read that you get the same error message. I dont believe I ever got that message with ATIH 2009.

Thank you for your reply. I am already using Acronis Bootable Media #7046 and it is displaying this error. You have siad that it shouldnt have this error so perhaps this is something you need to look at. Please let me know if you make a new version available for download.

Hi Oleg,
I am having the same error message concerning ipwatchd with my config (Dell with a RAID 1 configuration). I use build 7046. Is there another ISO available to get rid of this error message?
regards, Ruud.

I do not have a problem with getting the ISO file etc. but it seems the wrong thing !! I had to purchase the Plus Pack as I am using RAID 1 on my system disks, so they are dynamic and the Plus Pack is required. However, the ISO download is just for the bare 2010 product. Is this correct: i.e. one needs the plus pack for backup of dynamic disks but do not need it for restore?
Tx
UPDATE - - - > ISO IMAGE NO GOOD FOR DYNAMIC DISKS, I.E. WINDOWS 7 RAID.
I have just tried booting the ISO disk, but as it doesnt have the plus pack integrated into it, it just comes up with a few flashed error messages, a big bad screen saying that it will not handle Dynamic Disks and then when closed shows more flashes of error messages before machine down.

Denbigh-
You should be able to download the ISO with the Plus Pack if you registered your Plus Pack in your account. There is a separate Bootable Media tab for the Plus Pack (which has a separate entry), and although the file appears to be the same as for the Bootable Media tab for True Image Home 2010, they are actually different.
Ruud-
A WinPE ISO build that you can make will not have this error message, since it is not Linux based.

Gary,
That was what I expected (a tab in the Plus Pack) which I had registered before I tried this. But there wasn't and isn't such a tab. I know the PlusPack is working because my sequence of events was to find that TI2010 would not back up Dynamic Disks, told to buy the Plus Pack and obeyed. Now my installed TI2010 is backing files up - though restoring is a different kettle of fish. I have 3 entries in "My Products and Downloads".
1) Acronis True Image 11 Home (English) 1 license(s)
2) Acronis True Image Home 2010 Standard Upgrade (United Kingdom) 1 license(s)
3) Acronis True Image Home 2010 Plus Pack (United Kingdom) 1 license(s)
Both 1) and 2) offer bootable media downloads.
Another thing is that somewhere it was said that on-line purchased products would not need registering - they do NOT self-register.
I am getting on with trying the WinPE ISO build, when I have lumps of time available.

This is not right! There should be a bootable media download for the Plus Pack. Attached is a screen shot of my account which shows a Bootable Media tab for Plus Pack. Very strange that this is missing.

Ok, I can download the ISO from the Plus pack. However, this will only work when it I restore from a bootable CD with this image. It will not get rid of the error message when I use Acronis to restore within Windows and Acronis reboot the system itself and loads it's Linux drivers.

That's true. I do all backup and restore activity using the WinPE bootable media that I built (personal preference), so I don't use the Linux drivers at all currently. But when I was using Linux based bootable media that had this error message, I did not see this error message causing any issues. Acronis will have to fix this issue in the Linux loader version under Windows.

Immediate reboot after bin/ipwatchd error
Greetings,
Like others here, I just upgraded to TIH 2010 so that I could back up and restore Windows 7 on a new Dell Inspiron 1764 laptop running Win7/64 with latest Dell A08 BIOS and with all MS upgrades in place. I burned two Rescue discs and tried to boot each of them. They both fail in the same way: first the /bin/ipwatchd error, then a quick flash of the full app screen, but then - unlike others here - IMMEDIATE REBOOT. The Rescue ISO will not run!
This machine is at another site, so I cannot supply further configuration details at this moment. However, I will be back at that site on Monday 2010.06.28 - checking this thread for further information. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
