Time for 2014 TI backup

Thread needs solution

I have used and liked Acronis for years. Cloned new HD's and all went well. I find with 2014 TI that the time for back ups is ghastly to say the least.
The last backup calculated time showed 2 days 4 hours and 20 minutes.
I canceled it, uninstalled 2014, which took forever, and downloaded the latest 2014 build and reinstalled.
I am doing a backup now on my new computer with a 1T drive windows 8.1 64 bit system.

The backup now has been running for 1 hour and shows 3 hours and 13 minutes to go. I am not verifying because that has taken longer before. I realize that the time will keep adjusting as the back up progresses.
Why does the calculating time and the back up take so long. My HD only has about 230+ MB of data on it.

At this point, I don't think i want to go with 2015 with the reviews I have read. Too risky. I don't even recommend Acronis anymore, but I don't know what is better
Any ideas?

Greetings,
This will likely come down to:

1. Size and type of the back up being performed
2. Device or resource you are saving the back up to
3. Speed of CPU and amount of memory in your PC

Lets cover all 3. I'm sure you meant to say your back up was 230+ GB. Depending on the destination device, 4 hrs sounds about right for 230 GB.

Obviously a full back up takes much longer than a differential or incremental BU. A standard back up is much faster than a sector by sector copy. Using compression also adds to the total BU time.

The device or resource you are saving to also makes a difference. If saving to a USB drive, you'd want to use USB 3 and 7200rpm disk connected to a USB3 port. If you have solid state memory, even better. When saving to a network resource, gigabit Ethernet helps too over a 10/100 network.

Processing power and memory also play a role in the amount of time needed for back ups, as well as validation. Validation usually takes about the same amount of time as a back up. Maybe you could schedule validation as a separate task and have it run during off hours when it will affect your productivity the least. Validation is important and it sounds like you realize this.

I haven't found 2015 to be problematic. It has served me well and is meeting my imaging needs.
