Did you delete/remove a backup or backup task in the application? If so try a shutdown and restart of your computer. Do not simply reboot this must be a shutdown/restart action. If this solves your problem and it does not occur again then you have fixed the issue. When you received this error was there any action offered for you to take such as ignore?

yes ignore was an option but did not allow me to continue with back up when I chose to ignore. No shutting down the computer did not fix my issue is there another solution? I apologizre for taking so long to respond but I am working with little time for anything else. I appreciate your help in this matter thank you

Are you using Non Stop Backup? Have you tried a manual backup using the bootable Recovery Media?

This metadata file which by the way I think is actually cdp.metadata instead of cpd.metadata, correct me if I am wrong, is a file in which information about a Non Stop Backup is stored. If you deleted or removed a Non Stop Backup or this cdp information file this is the cause of the error. It could also be that this information file has become corrupt. It may help in the case of file corruption that you run chkdsk /r on the Non Stop Backup partition. You must do this from an elevated or admin command prompt. If that fails then you are facing deleting the Non Stop Backup completely and then after a shutdown and restart of your machine you can recreate the Non Stop Backup if desired. The downside to this of course is that you will loose whatever data is contained in the Non Stop Backup.
