Clone to new larger disk worked but in created a system partition that was not on the new target drive

Thread needs solution

I ran the clone disk function and did the automatic feature as recommended. It cloned perfectly well and when I rebooted to the new drive, everything worked great. The only problem that I don't understand is that it created a system partition that is not residing on the newly cloned drive. I have 4 hard drives in my system. The system partition was assigned to drive 'E', which is one of my 1T drives. Why didn't it create the partition for the system onto the new drive? It now looks like I have 5 hard drives when I physically have 4. What did I do wrong? Thanks for the help. -Steve

You can try to redo the clone operation:
- disconnect all drives,
- put the new drive on the same connector as the drive to clone
- put the source drive on some other connectore
- boot the computer on the Acronis recovery CD,
- perform the clone
- IMPORTANT: disconnect the source drive
- boot on the cloned drive
- if everything works fine, reconnect the other drive(s)

Thanks Pat! I will give your procedure a try. I think that was probably my mistake of not removing the other drives. I will put the new drive on the connector of the source too. I am fairly confident if I follow your steps, I should be successful. -Steve
